WARNING! This article contains major SPOILERS for Apartment 7A!Uncovering the sinister events of the Bramford prior to Rosemary’s terrifying experiences,Apartment 7Aintroduces a new character whose villain arc resembles the story of Guy Woodhouse inRosemary’s Baby. The ensemble ofcharacters inApartment 7Aincludes several returning figures from the 1968 horror classicRosemary’s Baby, including Terry Gionoffrio, the Castevets, Dr. Sapirstein, and, briefly, the Woodhouses. Theprequel primarily focuses on the previously established cult members from the perspective ofRosemary’s Baby’s Terry Gionoffrio, with Terry ultimately assuming Rosemary Woodhouse’s role from the original movie.

Terry’s introduction to the Bramford is revealed to be linked toApartment 7A’s Alan Marchand (Jim Sturgess), a Broadway producer whose show the injured Terry had been desperately trying to secure a role in. While at his home, the Bramford, Terry is approached and given housing by Minnie and Roman Castevet, who happen to be good friends of Alan. As it turns out,Alan is part of the Castevets’ sinister cultuncovered inRosemary’s Baby’s ending, with his role in getting Terry impregnated with the Antichrist being similar to Guy’s function in the cult’s scheme with Rosemary in the 1968 movie.
Alan Marchand Has The Same Role In Apartment 7A’s Story As Guy Woodhouse In Rosemary’s Baby
Alan & Guy Have The Same Function In The Castevets' Sinister Plans
With Guy and Rosemary moving into the Bramford after the Castevets’ plans with Terry have already commenced,Apartment 7Areveals that the couple was simply the cult’s replacement for Alan and Terry after their tragic fates. InApartment 7A, Alan is a successful producer living at the Bramford, comparable to Guy being a rising actor moving into the building. Both still struggle with scoring the big hits they need for their breakouts in the industry, but Roman and Minnie Castevet happen to be “supporters” of the arts with important, influential connections in the industry.
While Rosemary was never given any “benefits” for her pregnancy by the cult, Terry wins the starring role in Alan’s Broadway show once the coven’s plans begin coming to fruition inApartment 7A.

Therefore,Alan and Guy Woodhouse both join forces with the Castevets’ dark plans as a way to progress their careers in the entertainment business. Alan succeeds on the stage after joining the cult, with Guy earning big acting roles upon striking a deal with the Castevets’ coven in1968’sRosemary’s Babymovie. In both stories, Alan and Guy are used by the cult to drug Terry and Rosemary, assist the cult in a ritual that involves Satan raping and impregnating the women, and manipulate the women into believing they had sex with them that night.
Rosemary’s Baby Prequel Apartment 7A Brings Back 2024’s Weirdest Horror Trend
The upcoming Rosemary’s Baby prequel Apartment 7A promises to continue the biggest trend in 2024’s major horror movies, albeit with a twist.
Once both women become pregnant, Alan and Guy make them believe they’re the fathers. However, Terry and Rosemary ultimately uncover the truth about their pregnancies, withAlan’s confession leading to Terry stabbing and killing him at the altar where she was assaulted. Shortly after, Terry meets the cult at the Castevets’ apartment where they celebrate her as the mother of Satan’s son, leading Terry to sacrifice her life and prevent the Antichrist’s birth by jumping from the seventh-story window inApartment 7A’s ending. While John Cassavetes andMia Farrow’sRosemary’s Babycharacters both survive the coven’s sinister plans, it culminates in the Antichrist’s birth.

The Castevets Knew Which Careers Were Easier To Manipulate
The final moments ofApartment 7Asee Roman and Minnie Castevet stroll up the sidewalk to the crime scene where Terry’s dead body lies outside the Bramford. This is the exact moment when the Castevets first meet Guy and Rosemary Woodhouse in the originalclassic horror movie, revealing that this couple fell right into the cult’s lap with not a moment to spare after the deaths of both Alan and Terry. Almost immediately, Minnie and Roman went to work trying to figure out how to manipulate their new neighbors Guy and Rosemary into serving their cult and plans to conceive the Antichrist.
If Guy and Rosemary hadn’t survived their plans, then the Castevets likely would have sought out yet another struggling actor or stage persona.

Roman and Minnie had already found that those in the arts were easier to manipulate, as they could use their dark connections in the industry to quickly boost their career prospects. Just as it worked with Alan Marchand becoming a successful producer in exchange for joining the Bramford’s cult, the Castevets arranged a quid pro quo with Guy Woodhouse to secure him acting jobs in exchange for helping them impregnate his wife Rosemary with the Antichrist. If Guy and Rosemary hadn’t survived their plans, then the Castevets likely would have sought out yet another struggling actor or stage persona.
Alan’s Apartment 7A Fate Hints At Why Minnie & Roman Chose A Married Couple Next In Rosemary’s Baby
The Castevets Would Avoid Another Couple That Doesn’t Trust Each Other
Roman and Minnie could have left the Woodhouses alone and found outsiders to replace Terry and Alan after their dark fates in the2024 horror movie, but Rosemary and Guy provided more security for their plans. With Guy and Rosemary already being married and planning on having a baby upon moving in, the Castevets wouldn’t face their obstacles inApartment 7Awith Terry not wanting the baby, having very little trust in Alan, and being more skeptical due to living on her own. This way, the Castevets had far greater access to controlling the pregnancy, birth, and Rosemary’s perceptions.
