I thought Captain Jason Chambers would be the villain onBelow Deck Down Under, but it’s quickly becoming clear that Wihan Du Toit is the real bad guy. Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph developed a crush on Wihan after kissing him during a drunken moment of Truth or Dare. Unfortunately for Chef Tzarina, he keeps changing his focus from woman to woman, intending to make his way through the whole crew onBelow Deck Down Underseason 3.
Captain Jason seems to be doing just fine without Chief Stew Aesha Scott on board. Despite trouble withSous Chef Anthony Birdearly on, he was able to quickly fire him and move on tonew Sous Chef Alesia Harris. He and Chief Stew Lara Rigby also seem to get along well, basically eliminating him from season villain status. Here’s why I think Wihan is the one to watch out for.

6Wihan Is Flirting With Multiple Women
He’s Currently Hung Up On Adair
Wihan could get himself into trouble with the women onboard inBelow Deck Down Underseason 3. It all started whenWihan and Chef Tzarina kissed after a crew night out. However, things took a turn when he quickly shifted gears and went on a date with Stew Marina Marcondes de Barros. Chef Tzarina, understandably, felt blindsided, believing there had been something more between them. But Wihan wasn’t done yet—shortly after, he confessed his feelings to Deckhand/Stew Adair Werley, even writing her a heartfelt love letter.

Adair doesn’t return his interest, preferring a Southern man with a big truck. Chief Stew Lara gave him a stern warning, saying, “Don’t mess with my girls.” Despite this, Wihan kept the flirtations going, even circling back to kiss Chef Tzarina again after making his move on Adair. His behavior has drawn comparisons toBelow Deck Sailing Yacht’s Gary King, infamous for his love triangles and messy boatmances.

5Wihan Undermines Captain Jason’s Authority
He Does What He Wants
Wihan’s personal issues aren’t the only reason I think he’s becoming a villain onBelow Deck Down Underseason 3. In season 3, episode 7, the Bosun repeatedly undermined Captain Jason’s authority, prioritizing his love drama over preparing for guests. Wihan ignored part of a preference sheet meeting to write a love letter to Adair. Ignoring this forced Harry Van Vilet and Johnny Arvanitis to pick up the slack for their absentee boss.
Wihan isn’t a team player, and Captain Jason isn’t going to tolerate that attitude.
Captain Jason expects his crew to be adaptable and solution-oriented, and Wihan’s inability to step upcould become an issue. He can be a pretty accommodating Captain, but Jason’s not going to tolerate blatant negligence. His mismanagement became even more evident when he was put in charge of a guest beach picnic. Wihan completely underestimated the travel time for a planned bike ride, and his mistake put the entire charter experience at risk.
4Wihan Put Johnny In Danger With The Jet Ski
He Knew The Jet Ski Wasn’t Functioning Properly
It’s one thing to be bad with women or undermine management, but Wihan putting Johnny Arvanitis in danger was unacceptable. Before the excursion,Adair noticed water inside one of the jet skis and voiced concerns about its condition. Instead of addressing the issue, Wihan brushed it off, insisting the water was from previous use and failing to conduct a proper safety check. As a Bosun, it’s my impression that part of his job is to ensure his crew’s safety. He failed to do so.
Johnny probably shouldn’t have let the charter guest steer, but Wihan needed to perform a safety check before using the jet skis.
Once out on the water, Johnny and charter guest India, who had already admitted she couldn’t swim, were riding the faulty jet ski when it suddenly capsized, tossing them into the ocean. With India in distress, Johnny immediately jumped into action to keep her calm and afloat until help arrived. The incident could have been much worse, but Johnny’s quick thinking saved the day.
Wihan tried to pin the blame on the guest, suggesting her handling of the jet ski caused the accident. However, Captain Jason wasn’t buying it. He made it clear that Wihan’s negligence was to blame. Wihan proved he was a villain because he was too lazy to ensure Johnny’s safety.
3Wihan Doesn’t Communicate Properly With Chief Stew Lara
They Both Have Control Issues
Wihan and Chief Stew Lara are beefing, but at least there’s one woman on board he’s not interested in kissing. She called him out for kissing Chef Tzarina again after explaining to her and Marina that he’s not interested and wants to pursue Adair, who, in turn, is not interested in him. From the start, Lara has been wary of Wihan’s conduct, particularly his interactions with female crew members, which she believes have caused unnecessary drama. Wihan couldn’t keep it professional after he realized Lara had her eyes on him.

Beyond the interpersonal drama,Lara also takes issue with Wihan’s leadership on deck. She’s frustrated by moments where the deck team lounges around in front of guests instead of prioritizing their duties, something she feels compromises the yacht’s service standards. The situation reaches a breaking point when she suggests that the team needs a new leader, which Wihan finds threatening.
2Wihan Creates Drama Between The Interior And Deck Crew
He’s Selfish And Immature
I’ve also noticedthat Wihan is causing unnecessary tension between the deck and interior crewsat large. His romantic entanglements with multiple crew members, including Chef Tzarina and Stews Marina Marcondes and Adair, have created awkwardness and drama that distract them from their jobs. He’s also getting increasingly hostile towards Lara, and her girls will always defend her because they respect and enjoy her.
“No, baby girl, it’s not going to work that way.”
Beyond his complicated love life, Wihan’s attitude toward the interior crew has only made matters worse. When Lara asked for his help, he dismissed her, claiming that assisting the Stews would make them “take the piss.” Given how demanding the yachting industry is, teamwork should be a priority, but Wihan’s leadership style suggests otherwise. He also had a weird interaction with Alesia while she was working in the kitchen on preparing food, saying, “No, baby girl, it’s not going to work that way.” His combative attitude is becoming increasingly villainous.
1Wihan Was Reckless With Harry
This Resulted In His Finger Injury
Harry’s injury was an accident, but that doesn’t change Wihan being reckless with the deckhand, leading to his injury. His finger could have been seriously damaged, but luckily, he got the care he needed.Wihan didn’t rise to the occasion as leader. While securing the jet ski, a sudden wave caused the cradle to shift unexpectedly, crushing Harry’s thumb between the cradle and the vehicle. Harry was in immediate agony, prompting the crew to spring into action.
Wihan may not have been able to stop the incident, but he doesn’t seem to handle conflict or issues well, as opposed to Harry and Johnny, who consistently rise to the occasion.
Captain Jason quickly called for medical assistance while a doctor onboard assessed the damage. The nail had been completely torn off, and given the risk of infection from seawater exposure, he had to go to a doctor’s appointment off the boat. This should have been a wake-up call for Wihan, but he took no responsibility for his crew member’s safety. I think we need to keep an eye on Wihan’s villainous vibes asBelow Deck Down Underunfolds.
