Free League Publishing has launched a new crowdfunding campaign forAlien: The Roleplaying Game, incorporating content from last year’sAlien: Romulusand updating the popular horror tabletop RPG. TheAlienhorror franchise is already expanding with theAlien: EarthTV seriesserving as a prequel to the originalAlienmovie.It won’t be theonly majorAlienproject launching this year, with Free League Publishing releasing a new edition of its popular horror RPG based on the sci-fi franchise.
Launching today onKickstarter, the new Evolved Edition of theAlien RPGbrings content fromAlien: Romulusto the horror-themed tabletop RPG along with new revised rules and improved mechanics. The game continues to use the Year Zero game engine, with players rolling pools of D6s in the hopes of getting a single 6, but with new gameplay support and revisions to various parts of the game.The new Kickstarter has already raised over $800,000 as of the time of writing,with fulfillment promised in September of this year.

Kickstarter Will Fund Production Of Several Boxed Sets Plus New Core Rulebook
The Kickstarter will fund the production of several different products, including a new Core Rulebook, a Starter Set, and a Cinematic Scenario box called theRapture Protocol. Support for miniatures play is also being added to the game, withFree League also producing a box full of miniatures featuring various Alien xenomorphs and characters.Digital versions of the core rulebook, which includes the new content based onthe popularAlien: Romulusfilm,will also be available at a lower $25 price point.

The stress and panic system (a risk and reward system that adds extra dice to rolls, but with greater risks for failure) is an absolute blast in a horror setting. Plus, the cinematic game mode allows for easy character deaths, which perfectly captures the feeling of an actualAlienmovie. TheAlien RPGis one of our favorite tabletop RPGs and we can’t wait to see what the new edition has in store.
