The futuristic world ofBatman Beyondintroduced a high-tech version of Gotham City’s Dark Knight protector named Terry McGinnis, who in the years since his inception has become a staple character in DC Comics’ sprawling multiverse and a proper member of the Bat Family in his own right. In a new clip shared on Instagram,Terry’s Batman gets a rare action figure-esque cosplay design that nails the character’shard-to-pull-off batsuit and cowl!

A custom costume created and worn by Saad Ahmad (@saadleup), this nerdy talent has been tweaking and improving on his previousBatman Beyonddesign for a little while now, with the official debut of the current iteration of the suit being a treat for fans of Terry’s animated tales and comic stories alike.

Making his debut on the small screen in1999’sBatman Beyondseries, Terry McGinnis’ batsuit was initially designed by the original Batman, Bruce Wayne, yet after he gave up the mantle and Terry “borrowed” it years later, it became synonymous with Terry’s own war against crime.Form-fitting and composed of a kind of material that almost looks like a second skin when worn, this suit has multiple abilitiesthat allow Terry to turn invisible, glide for short amounts of time, hack all kinds of technology, and directly connect to his mentor for some important advice when needed.

Looking like an action figure come to life, what with his perfectly sculpted superhero frame and clean-cut suit design, the most impressive part about this cosplay is how Saad’s bat-cowl successfully translates Terry’s whited-out eyes and skin-tight suit material in a way that feels real— two elements of thisBatman Beyonddesignthat are notoriously hard to get right in live-action. Overlaying a picture-in-picture schematic of theBatman: Arkham Citycharacter skin Saad used as inspiration for this design, and by the end of this clip, fans get to see Saad’s cosplay from every angle and in every pose.

Next, showing a clip that compares this bat-design with an alternate version of the suit that adds Terry’s signature red bat wings to it (along with a cool futuristic batarang replica),Saad easily turns this cosplay into one of the best the community has produced for the character— and that’s saying a lot.Batman Beyondis currently in between limited series, with Terry McGinnis getting a slightly updated look for his latest comic story, one that Saad Ahmad (@saadleup) needs to find a way to bring to life next, which, luckily for fans, is completely doable for this cosplay creator.
