AlthoughAlice in Borderlandseason 3 is happening, I predict Chishiya, arguably the show’s most popular character, will be very different once he returns. The news thatAlice in Borderlandhad been renewed for season 3 was surprising considering that no stories were left from the manga to be covered. Apart fromAlice in Borderland: Retry, an epilogue confirming that Arisu and Usagi eventually got married, the Netflix series has already covered the entire manga. As a result, it’s difficult to predict whatAlice in Borderlandseason 3’s storywill be about.

Haro Aso’sAlice in Borderlandmanga ends with Arisu declining to stay in the Borderlandand waking up in the real world alongside the other characters. We then learn that the Borderland was a limbo between life and death, with Arisu and the others fighting for their lives after a comet hit Tokyo. This is precisely what happens inAlice in Borderlandseason 2’s finale. Still, given that the Netflix show is continuing, I hope all the character development from the first two seasons won’t be reversed just so that the story can continue.

10 Moments That Prove Chishiya Is Alice In Borderland’s Best Character

From hilarious scenes to beating the most difficult games, it is difficult not to think of Chishiya as Alice in Borderland’s best character.

Chishiya Should Be Very Different In Alice In Borderland Season 3

The King Of Diamonds’ “Beauty Contest” Changed Chishiya

It’s hard to argue against Chishiya beingAlice in Borderland’s most popular character. An anti-hero who does not play by the rules and has no problem crossing lines,Chishiya stole the show inAlice in Borderlandseason 1 and had an even bigger role in season 2. Part of the reason why Chishiya is so popular is his unbothered personality. Whereas Arisu and Usagi were always intensely fighting for their lives, Chishiya seemed not to care much about whether he would survive. Chishiya did try to win every game he was in but never seemed desperate about it.

If Chishiya truly changed during the “Beauty Contest,” his character must be different in season 3.

During the King of Diamonds game, we learn why Chishiya is like that. The flashbacks revealed thatChishiya was a doctor who participated in a corruption schemein which certain patients would be favored over others. Chishiya no longer valued life, but by the end of the Beauty Contest game, he had gained a new perspective. His clash with the King of Diamonds caused Chishiya to reconsider his approach to life, which is why he was able to win the game. If Chishiya truly changed during “Beauty Contest,” his character must be different in season 3.

Chishiya Stole The Show In Netflix’s Alice In Borderland

Arisu and Usagi are the main characters inAlice in Borderland, with Arisu being the “Alice” of the story. We discover the Borderland through the perspective of Arisu, a character who, despite doubting himself a few times, ultimately never loses hope. The same thing can be said about Usagi, who, while depressed over what happened to her father in the real world, ultimately decided to fight for her survival.Arisu and Usagi are more traditional heroes– characters who stand for the right thing and usually make the right decisions.

Aya Asahina

Hikari Kuina

Chishiya, on the other hand, is a morally grey character whose actions are impossible to predict. We never know what Chishiya will do next, nor whom he considers to be friends or foes. Apart from his friendship with Kuina, Chishiya was an undecipherable character until the show revealed his backstory.Netflix’s live-action adaptationofAlice in Borderlandmade some changes to Chishiya compared to the manga, but the essence of the character was kept. Between his “too-cool-for-school” persona and his intelligence, watching Chishiya play the games was perhaps the most fun thing about the show.

Chishiya Can Still Retain His Personality In Alice In Borderland Season 3

Chishiya’s Character Arc Doesn’t Mean His Personality Must Change

TheAlice in Borderlandcharactersforgot everything that happened during their near-death experiences, which does not mean those experiences did not change them. The fact that Arisu and Usagi both feel like they know each other from somewhere reveals that whatever really happened to the survivors of the Tokyo incident will affect their lives going forward. In other words,Chishiya is now expected to be a different person from when he entered the Borderland– someone who has a greater appreciation for life and may care more about other people.

Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya are officially reprising their roles as Arisu and Usagi, respectively, inAlice in Borderlandseason 3. Other actors and characters remain to be confirmed.

Chishiya wakes up at the hospital in Alice in Borderland season 2’s finale

That said,Alice in Borderlandseason 3 does not need to change Chishiya’s entire personality just because of what happened in the King of Diamonds game. Chishiya can still be the smart, discrete character who’s always watching from afar while planning his next move regardless of his character development. The only difference is that Chishiya might now care more about himself and his friends than he did before his conversation with the King of Diamonds.
