For many years, readers of theBorutomanga have complained about the unfair power distribution between the characters. Despite having a broad and iconic cast of ninjas, many of whom were considered powerhouses during the original series, there are only a handful of warriors powerful enough to have an impact on the plot.

Besides the protagonist, the members of the Otsutsuki clan, and the recently introduced Divine Trees, no other character has a chance to become relevant for long. Despite how fans have complained about the topic, the manga does not seem to be changing its approach to the power scaling of its characters, all proven by Ryu, a villain who only Boruto can defeat.

Regular Shinobi Can Not Compete With Ryu

His Powers Make Him Almost Invincible

Created by absorbing the DNA and abilities of Shinki, Gaara’s adoptive son, Ryu isone of the most powerful villains in theNarutofranchise. Thanks to his origins, he has the power to control Iron Sand, a technique that is feared and respected by most ninjas for its versatility and raw power. Ryu is also naturally faster, stronger, and more durable than a regular shinobi, as he is imbued with the Chakra of the Ten-Tails. Yet,this imposing antagonist has an unfair advantage over even his peers, as revealed in chapter #20 of theTwo Blue Vortexmanga.

AfterAraya’s controversial swordwas used to control the villain, Mitsuki attempted to defeat the Divine Tree with his outstanding Sage Mode Speed. Lamentably, he was unable to even connect an attack, as Ryu transformed his entire body into Iron Sand to escape his grasp. This moment demonstrated that Shinki’s clone’s body was not made from wood, like his peers, but from a much more versatile material. No matter how much the heroes have trained, fighting against an untouchable opponent is an almost impossible task.

Boruto: Two Blue vortex chapter 20 Sarada Uchiha using her mangekyo sharingan against Ryu

Boruto Is Hinting At A Sudden Betrayal From One Of Its Most Interesting Characters

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #19 hints at Hidari, one of the most interesting Divine Trees, betraying his allies.

Once again, the enemy the characters are currently fighting has proven to be several times stronger than any regular Shinobi. The only tool they could have used wasAraya’s sword, which was taken from them almost immediately. The only hope Sarada’s team has now is for Boruto to arrive and save the day. If this indeed occurs, the trend of the series relying on the actions of a handful of powerful characters will continue, and fans will not be happy about this decision.

Not Even Sarada’s New Skills Are Enough

Ryu Is Still Stronger Than the Uchiha Heir

In chapter #20 of theBoruto: Two Blue Vortexmanga, Sarada awakenedthe abilities of her new and powerful Mangekyo Sharingan, using it to absorb Ryu’s sand. Her powers, while still not explained fully, seemedto create a portal to a pocket dimension that can suck anything the user desires. This skill effectively nullifies Ryu’s powers, forcing him to fight without relying on his sand powers. Nonetheless, even this might not be enough for the heroes to defeat the Divine Tree without Boruto’s help.

Sarada’s battle against Hidari in chapter #10 and the ongoing fight between Konohamaru and Matsuri are proof that Jura’s creations are not only resilient but also tremendously strong. Although taking the Iron Sand away from Ryu will allow the heroes to join the combat without being trapped, they still need to be cautious of the villain’s innate power. Moreover, Jura himself is overseeing the fight from their hideout, meaning he can always save his comrade from dying. The only way to effectively destroy Ryu would be by removing and eliminating his Thorn Soul Bulb.

Matsuri launches an attack after being betrayed by Konohamaru.

The latest Boruto chapter highlights the exact trigger for Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan, altering what fans knew about the enigmatic power.

The only two characters with enough speed and strength to achieve the task, at least before Jura arrives at the battlefield, are Boruto and Kashin Koji. As such, Sarada and her team are once again forced to wait for the protagonist to save them from impending doom.Regardless of how much character development Sarada had during this battle, as she was able to admit her feelings for Boruto andunleash her Mangekyo Sharingan, she is still relegated to a supporting role.

Konohamaru Might Need Help as Well

Boruto’s Teacher Is in Grave Danger

While realizing that Sarada will need to be saved from her predicament by Boruto can be disappointing, chapter #20 of the manga takes the issue further by putting another character in mortal peril. After tricking Matsuri into trusting him,Konohamaru attempted to destroy herbody by utilizing two gigantic Rasengan, but his doubts caused him to let her live. DespiteNaruto’s favorite student being given a chance to shine, his triumphant moment was stripped away from him in the blink of an eye, as the Divine Tree immediately launched a counterattack.

Not even seasoned ninjas can defeat the villains without help from the powerhouses of Konoha.

Without anyone else there to save him, Konohamaru had no other option than to hope his former student could get to him in time and stop the opponent. This case is slightly more infuriating than Sarada’s, as the Jonin had the skills and strength to take down Matsuri. It makes sense that he hesitated after seeing the Divine Tree and picturing Moegi, his friend and crush, butthis decision turned him into yet another victim of the power imbalance of the series. Not even seasoned ninjas can defeat the villains without help from the powerhouses of Konoha.

Sarada Could Surprise Fans

The Full Extent of Her Abilities Has Not Yet Been Confirmed

Despite all the signs pointing at the protagonist being the one who will save the day, chapter #21 of theBoruto: Two Blue Vortexmanga will have a unique opportunity to give Sarada the spotlight. During the latest entry, her Mangekyo Sharingan powers were barely touched upon, as she simply absorbed the loose sand used by Ryu to keep her team immobile. She may still be hiding another trick up her sleeve, one that will make her a real threat to the Divine Trees. Her battle could be a great example of how other characters can become relevant again.

TheBoruto: Two Blue Vortexmanga has an opportunity to prove that it has learned from the past, although the signs do not seem to point in that direction. Nonetheless, fans are hopeful that the issue of unbalanced power scaling can be addressed soon, as it would make the plot more enjoyable for readers.
