After being gravely injured by Jura during their encounter in chapter #13, Boruto was placed under arrest, becoming one of Konoha’s prisoners. Shortly after, he was interrogated by the special forces of the Hidden Leaf, with Ibiki Morino taking it upon himself to torture their captive. Since Boruto refused to reveal his secrets, the leader of Konoha’s Intelligence Department began physically attacking him. Naruto’s son was smashed against a table and later punched in the face and stomach. While these moments are distressing on their own, they become even more shockingwhen compared with Kawaki’s previous fights.
As the series has progressed, Naruto’s adoptive son has fought against various opponents, often resulting in him being injured by the attackers. In chapter #2 of the manga, one ofCode’s Claw Grimesmanaged to take Kawaki by surprise, holding his head and smashing it against the ground. Later, during Jura’s invasion of Konoha in chapter #8, he was once again defeated by the main antagonist, with a clean and powerful punch to the jaw. Lastly, Kawaki was knocked down by Boruto with a swift hit to the stomach in chapter #9.
The moments in which Boruto’s former friend is attacked aredepicted almost identically to the torture Naruto’s son received in chapter #14. The fact that both characters were hurt in such similar ways seems intentional. The effects of Eida’s Omnipotence may be still acting upon Boruto, making him experience everything that occurs to Kawaki. This would explain why they received the same kind of injuries in extremely similar circumstances. What is more, this could also mean that the injuries Boruto has received may occur to Kawaki at some point in the future.
The Karma Marks Might Be Causing Omnipotence To Act Out

For many years, the Karma marks given to Kawaki and Boruto by members of the Otsutsuki clan have been among the biggest mysteries of the franchise. It is known that these techniques allowed a member of the alien race to possess the body of a human, feeding from their energy until they were able to be reborn inside them. Despite how terrible of a fate this is, the advantage is that a Karma mark grants the owner the abilities of an Otsutsuki, and will not disappear even if the invader is removed.
Still, the abilities Karma can imbue the user withhave never explained why it was given that title. Boruto and Kawaki sharing a similar fate might explain why their marks were named like that by the Otsutsuki.Two Blue Vortexhas already confirmed that the siblings are connected by their Karmas. When Kawaki activates him,Boruto’s begins to operate as well, which is when the latter tries to avoid being near his brother when the mark is being used.This link might be what has caused both ninjas’ story to unfold similarly.
When Kawaki was attacked and hurt, the Karma in Boruto’s arm activated to make him experience the same situation. The marks forcing both characters to experience what the other does would explain why the Otsutsuki gave them that ominous name. There is also the possibility thatEida’s Omnipotence augmented the connection between the Karmas. Since the ability was given to the female android by injecting her with cells fromthe all-powerful god of the Otsutsuki, Shibai, the skill could have increased the power of the marks.

Meanwhile, Naruto’s son will likely continue experiencing events similar to those that occur to Kawaki.
