Summary
Captain America: Brave New Worldand its reveal of theMCUAdamantium makes the current timeline even more dangerous for one hero. The2024 San Diego Comic-ConBrave New Worldfootageappears to have shown that the MCU’s Adamantium will be introduced viaEternals' Tiamut, suggesting the movie will explore the idea that the being has some core inherently made of the substance, or that Sersi transmuted Tiamut into Adamantium while trying to stop the Celestial from destroying the planet. Either way, this holds massive implications forthe MCU timeline, and could manifest in a series of fascinating storylines.
While the main focus of this news has naturally been theories around how it will be explored inthe story ofCaptain America: Brave New Worlditself - and what characters its arrival could be foreshadowing - there’s a lot of other story avenues this reveal would be perfect to open up. In particular, the implications this has for Star-Lord’s story are especially interesting, as they imply even more strongly that Peter Quill picked the worst possible time to decide to try and live on Earth, and thatupcoming Marvel releasesmay shed light on how much danger he’s currently in.

Star-Lord Returning To Earth Looks A Lot More Dangerous After Captain America: Brave New World’s Adamantium Reveal
Star-Lord’s Return To Earth Was Awkwardly Timed At Best
The current landscape for the MCU’s Earth at this time certainly paints a picture that is uniquely and particularly dangerous for Star-Lord - making it perhaps inevitable that this is also the exact time theGuardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3endingappears to show he’ll be living on Earth.Captain America: Brave New Worldrevealing that the Celestial Tiamut will seemingly be mined for Adamantium inherently creates a complicated scenario for the hero, asGuardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2saw Ego - Quill’s father - explain himself to be a Celestial, with Peter inheriting some of those genes.
While discussions around what capacity Ego can be considered a Celestial in the MCU are still ongoing - and it’s not yet clear exactly how Tiamut becomes comprised of Adamantium, nor to what exact degree this version of the substance is to be considered the same as the type in Wolverine’s origin story -the increased focus and scrutiny on this matter creates a scenario where Peter Quill telling anyone about his life and family tree could put him in colossal danger. Unfortunately, Quill will also be on many government radars for his involvement in the major battles of the Infinity Saga.

As such, the galactic mercenary’s notable reappearance around the time all of this happens could well lead to investigations, which may return information about Ego, who does bare some considerable parallels to Tiamut, both in the similarities between Tiamut’s Emergence and Ego’s planned Expansion, and in that both Tiamut and Ego ended up in not dissimilar physical forms. While audiences know Star-Lord is a hero, MCU’s Earth story clearly shows widespread paranoia about aliens has broken out, and Peter may end up finding himself on the wrong end of these fears in more than one way.
Star-Lord’s Return Was Already Set Up To Be A Risk For The MCU Hero
Secret Invasion Made Star-Lord’s Return Dangerous To Begin With
Even beforeCaptain America: Brave New World’s Adamantium and Celestial plot twists were revealed, Star-Lord’s return to Earth was already looking like it would be a risky move.Secret Invasionsaw President Ritson unveil anti-extraterrestrial legislation - declaring “a bill that designates all off-world born species enemy combatants” - that inherently put folks coming from space like Peter Quill in danger, and doubly so since anyone becoming aware of his Celestial father could thus use the knowledge of his alien parent against the MCU hero.
Even ifBrave New Worldsees President Ross renege on this legislation, the level of violence enacted against those suspected of being aliens towards the end ofSecret Invasionsuggests that Earth is inherently set to be dangerous for Peter, who is likely to stand out as someone who isn’t used to living on the planet. The Marvelssaw more Skrull head to Earth to seek refuge from their own destroyed planet as well, which may serve to further exacerbate the divisions on Earth should those who have biases against the Skrull and alienkind in general learn of their arrival.

Why Star-Lord’s Next MCU Story Might Be His Most High-Stakes Yet
Star-Lord’s Earth Story Sets Up Some Trials For The MCU Hero
While Star-Lord has been shown to be a capable combatant, the fights he has faced in the MCU thus far have been on planets and locations outside of Earth. The fights have also by and large been him and the Guardians against their opponents, andthe years Peter has spent with a full team by his side in almost any combat scenario suggest he may find it challenging adapting to this change.
Star-Lord has spent years away from Earth that are likely to show in how he perceives the world, is a character who isn’t best suited to managing to go under the radar, and has accidentally timed his move to Earth with perhaps the most fraught period of history for those who live in space coming to the planet. Peter’s physically human appearance doesn’t look like it’ll keep him safe, either, as the general public is now also aware Skrulls can disguise themselves as human, meaning he’s particularly at risk from those paranoid about this detail.

All in all, this sets up Star-Lord’s time on Earth to be quite possibly the most dangerous and high stakes part of his MCU arc yet depending on howCaptain America: Brave New Worldunfolds. On the plus side, though, this also sets up the potential for a truly fascinating MCU story that effectively combines a series of different storylines together in one fell swoop, allowing the franchise to bring seemingly separate sides of its lore together for one exciting payoff.
