Daredevil in Netflix’sDaredevilseason 1, which launched a whole Marvel subfranchise in 2015. Since then, Cox has played the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in two other seasons of his Netflix solo show,The Defenders, and two MCU cameos:Spider-Man: No Way HomeandShe-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Now, Cox’s Daredevil finally stars in his own solo series officially set in the MCU,Phase 5’sDaredevil: Born Again, where he’s set to face Kingpin, Bullseye, and Muse.
During theDaredevil: Born Againpanel atFAN EXPOSan Francisco 2024, Charlie Cox was asked which DC character he would be interested in portraying.Cox admitted it would be a challenge, but said that he would enjoy playing the Joker. Cox also expressed his admiration for Heath Ledger’s award-winning performance as the Joker in Christopher Nolan’sThe Dark Knight. Cox’s full comments below (at the 12:19 mark):
“I wouldn’t want to take it on based on the actors you have in the past because they’re so brilliant, but I was thinking like, the Joker would be a lot of fun… If you could find a way to do something… You know, I mean, Heath Ledger for me nailed that part obviously… If you could find a new take on it in some way that would be cool.”
