Summary
David Boreanaz’sBonespotential revival comments make me extremely hopeful for a reboot after his current show,SEAL Team, ends.SEAL Teamseason 7will be the show’s last season and premiered on July 16, 2025. After the show ends, David Boreanaz has a clear schedule for another TV show. Given Boreanaz’s recent comments about aBonesrevival and excitement about the idea from other cast and crew members, including the showrunner himself, itmakes the most sense for Boreanaz to return as Special Agent Seeley Boothin the beloved crime procedural show.
Bonesended after 12 seasons, but it was not on the show’s terms—Fox had decided to cancel the show, most likely due to the lower ratings in later seasons. The show ended with some unanswered questions, so aBonesrevival could finally answersome of them.Bonesdeserves another chance on screen, which I have been waiting for since the show’s untimely cancelation. It would be a dream come true to see Brennan and Booth possibly working together again, seeing what the reconstructed Jeffersonian Institute would look like, and catching up with Cam and Arastoo, as well as Angela and Hodgins.

From criminals like The Gravedigger to cannibals like Gormogon, these are some of the worst villains and serial killers that Bones ever dreamed up.
David Boreanaz Is Open To A Bones Revival - And It Should Happen
David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, & Creator Hart Hanson Have All Voiced Enthusiasm For A Bones Revival
Recently,David Boreanaz spoke about a potentialBonesreboot, and he was nothing less than enthusiastic when approached with the idea. The actor admitted that doing the show was particularly special for him and that he would be more than willing to step back into the shoes of Booth, saying:
“It was lightning in a bottle. I hold that so near and dear, and it would be great to relive that again. It is the work ethic that we had putting into these characters and what we put out was entertainment for them, and I just can’t tell you how much love and admiration we get from fans for these two characters. And to see them come back would be great.

I mean, it’s an easy one to do because it’s so fun. It’s not like, really, what are you going to do with it? It’s just a lot of heart.”
Showrunner and creator Hart Hanson has also been utterly devoted to rebootingBonesas long as Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz return. Finally, Emily Deschanel has expressed her desire to return as well. Further backing up the idea arecast and crew members being enthusiastic about a potentialBonesseason 13.Everyone appears to be on board for moreBones, which is an essential first step to bring back the procedural on the small screen.

SEAL Team Ending Can Open The Door For Bones To Come Back
David Boreanaz And Other Bones Cast Members Have A Clear Schedule
One of themain issues with rebootingBonesis ensuring the cast is availablefor the revival. That said, now would be an ideal time to seriously consider therevival because David Boreanaz’s current show,SEAL Team, is ending after seven seasons. Meanwhile, Emily Deschanel has had no long-term TV projects, given that her most recent project was the miniseriesDevil in Ohioin 2022. Michaela Conlin and T.J. Thyne also seem to be available. Their most recent projects are primarily guest starring on TV shows such asGrey’s Anatomy,Chicago Med, andDollface.
SEAL Teamseason 7 has ten episodes, premiering weekly on Sundays on Paramount+ until the finale on July 16, 2025.

Tamara Taylor recently had a significant role inLaw & Order: Organized Crime, but her character, Angela Wheatley, died in season 2. Other than a small recurring role inSnowfall, Taylor also appears to be available for aBonesreboot.John Boyd might be difficult to include, given he has been part of the main cast ofFBIsince 2019, but he can always appear in a recurring role. With no long-term projects or other commitments for the majority of the original cast, now is the perfect time for the cast ofBonesto come together for a revival.
David Boreanaz Returning To Bones Would Be His Best Character Continuation
Bones Would Be The Ideal Choice To Reboot From All Of David Boreanaz’s Shows
Of all of David Boreanaz’s TV shows,Bonesis the ideal one to make a comeback as a reboot. The actor is well-known for playing the vampire Angel inBuffy the Vampire Slayerand its spinoff show,Angel, in the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, it will be difficult to revisit that universe, given that vampires are not supposed to age, and it has been over 20 years since he played that role. Technology makes de-aging now possible, but this prospect would be more difficult on TV.
The open nature of the show’s ending allows a smooth transition into a reboot while tackling unanswered questions from the series finale.Bonesis the only David Boreanaz show that could have an organic and compelling revival.
Furthermore, Sarah Michelle Gellar has suggested thata reboot is not ideal for theBuffyuniverse. Instead, she is more interested in creating a spinoff.SEAL Teamwill end in October 2024, so rebooting it makes no sense. It’s worth noting thatBonesis the best choice for a revival, not just because it is the only possibility by default. The open nature of the show’s ending allows a smooth transition into a reboot while tackling unanswered questions from the series finale.Bonesis the only David Boreanaz show that could have an organic and compelling revival.

Despite the enthusiasm for a potentialBonesrevival, the possibility of it occurring is completely up in the air. As much as I want to see some of my favorite characters return, Disney’s purchase of Fox complicates the issue. It is unknown if aBonesrevival would air on a streaming platform or network television, and if it would be a streaming platform, it is unknown which one it would be. Regardless, the prospect of aBonesrevival is super exciting, and I will continue to hope for one until it actually happens, or it is shut down completely.
