Creature Commandoswill include plenty of surprise DC characters, as revealed by a new trailer. James Gunn’sDC Universehas finally started with the release of the first two episodes ofCreature Commandos. The TV-MA animated series does a great job of introducing viewers to the franchise, with expansive world-building andCreature Commandos' roster of characters, which includes returning stars from the DCEU and a lot of new faces. While he has yet to show up in the series, a tease has been released, andDavid Corenswet’s Supermanmakes his DCU debut before his 2025 movie alongside interesting characters.

DC (via@jordnjnes/Twitter) has shareda shocking trailer forCreature Commandos’remaining episodesthat features David Corenswet’s Superman, Starfire, John Cena’s Peacemaker, and more.

Rick Flag Sr, Nina Mazursky, Doctor Phosphorus, Eric Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, G.I. Robot and Weasel Standing In A Line In Creature Commandos

The surprise characters appear at the start of the trailer, and things do not look too good for them. After the Wonder Woman villain, Circe, says, “I will show you the future,” theCreature Commandostrailer cuts to what appears to be a nightmare-like scenario where David Corenswet’s Superman, Starfire, Peacemaker, and presumably moreDCU heroes have died after a major battle. That vision could have something to do withfuture DCU movies.

What The New Creature Commandos Trailer Means

The Major DCU Debuts Tease Multiple Stories

David Corenswet’s Superman making his DCU debut months before his 2025 movie is surprising. Starfire is also another major reveal, while John Cena’s Peacemaker appearance is more of a tame one. That said, all three characters are likely not going to have speaking roles inCreature Commandos. That comes from the nature of the scene in the animated series' trailer. Circe seems to be showing someone a vision of what could happen in a possible future, and so the heroes — and anti-hero in Peacemaker’s case — should appear to present the high stakes of that scenario.

Creature Commandos Review: The DCU Breaks New Ground With James Gunn’s High-Octane Animated Monster Series

Creature Commandos marks the official start of the DCU, and with a team of monstrous antiheroes leading the charge, it’s off to a good start.

Interestingly, Superman is not only front and center but also crucified in the footage, indicating his major status within the DCU. Given his presence and all the silhouettes of unknown heroes in the background, the sequencemight feature the first glimpse at the Justice Leagueor at least heroes like Batman and Wonder Woman. Starfire’s inclusion is also very interesting, as the character had not yet been confirmed for the new DCU by Gunn. Her debut suggests the reportedDCU Teen Titans movie, which Gunn has also not announced, is really happening.

Our Take On The New Creature Commandos Trailer

The DCU Is Starting On The Right Foot

I loved the reveal of Superman, Starfire, Peacemaker and the tease of more heroes in the background in the newCreature Commandostrailer. Asthe first release in the DCU, the animated series is doing a fine job building out the franchise’s expansive world. I’m intrigued to see if we will get more characters in that sequence when whatever episode of Creature Commandos it is in releases or if we will get some sort of explanation as to what story is behind that bleak vision. That said, having Superman and Starfire’s debuts is a major win forCreature Commandos.
