Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, the EPs behind the series, explain toThe Hollywood Reporterwhat the Jackal is up to in season 2, which has already received a green light. Neame shares that “there’s a serious bit of unfinished business” for the Jackal, withhis wife and child’s whereabouts unknownanda debt being owed. There are a lot of questionsThe Day of the Jackalseason 2needs to answer, especially withUDC being the Jackal’s last job. The Jackal is planning on retiring, but his plan falls apart when Nuria finds out the truth and takes off with their child. The season 1 finale seestheJackal completely losing his cool. However, unlike his job, he can’t simply take out Nuria and call it a day. Season 1 sees the Jackal reflecting on family and leading a double life. Norman warns him that there’ll be a day when he has to choose.

The decision was made in season 1 when the Jackal took on what was supposed to behis last job before retirement.
