InDead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #12, Kadode asked Watarase to officially be his girlfriend, but Watarese rejected her because he had to leave Tokyo to take care of his father. At the same time, Oran and Oba hung out at the batting cages with Makoto and the Dark Knight, and when the topic of invaders came up,Oba revealed that the invaders were the original inhabitants of Earth and were trying to take it back. Oran didn’t understand what he was talking about, to which Oba replied that Oran was too kind to invaders.
Later, as the Japanese government continued to fortify the Ocean stadium, Oba came across an invader being attacked by Kohiruimaki and the Youth United Front. Oba saved the invader at the cost of Kohiruimaki stealing his invisibility cloak, and the invader revealed to Oba thata faction of invaders who hated humanity planned on letting the mothership crash and pollute the world with F-energy, something that was already shown inDead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction’s prologue. The invader Oba rescued died after relaying that information, and Oba was left wondering what he could do to help.

Following that, the Occult Research Club finally went on their vacation to the same place Kadode and Oran had their study camp and learned that Isobeyan, the alien they had befriended, was imprisoned for a few days before disappearing. Oba told Ojiro thatIsobeyan was an investigator sent to Earth to confirm that humanity could be used for slave labor, but Oba couldn’t comment on anything else. Later, when Oran and Oba discovered an abandoned spacecraft on the shore, Oba voiced his conflicting loyalties to Oran, but after Oran kissed Oba, the episode ended on something of a calm note.
Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #12 had Kadode and Oran return to where they first met Isobeyan as children, but they didn’t react to learning that there was an alien there at one point, nor did the women they talked to react to them, soDead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #12 implies that history was changed so that Kadode and Oran never met Isobeyan. Considering where everyone is, the full depth of what happened is bound to come out soon, and the conclusion to that storyline will be great to see.

As the tension continues to grow with every new episode,Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructiononce again shows how good its character writing iswith episode #12. Even with how much the plot is winding down, theDead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionanime continues to give everyonecomedic and all-around entertaining human moments from start to finish, the beach trip being an especially great place for that sort of writing. The series never forgets to prioritize letting the characters be human, and that’s never not been great to watch.
Out of all the characters, though, the biggest standout of episode #12 was undoubtedly Oba. Episode #12 was the first episode to truly put Oba in the spotlight, and thanks to that,Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #12 did a great job of highlighting Oba’s conflicting loyalties and how much his relationship with Oran means to him, leaving as one of the best-developed characters in the entire cast.Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction’s writing was in top form with episode #12, and episode #13 is sure to be an even better follow-up.
