When it comes to preparation forDestiny 2’s launch, most of the boxes have been ticked. There have been successful beta tests, numerous gameplay reveals, andplenty of leaks, but one familiar piece of promotional material had yet to surface. Today, however, it is time for theDestiny 2live action trailer to complete the hype train.
TheDestiny 2live action trailer reunites our Hunter, Warlock, and Titan trio totake on Ghaul, who looks particularly menacing in the flesh. As expected, Cayde-6 is around to help set the stage for the epic battle with the Red Legion, and to add a little comedic relief in the form of motivation. While most players will be battling the Cabal in a quest for loot and power, this trailer hopes players don’t forget about the puppies.
In addition to plenty of comedic bits, the live actionDestiny 2trailer features some epic moments as well. We get to see live action representations of the three new subclasses inDestiny 2, those being theArcstrider Hunter, the Sentinel Titan, and the Dawnblade Warlock. Destiny fans have likely become well acquainted with the new subclasses in the sequel, thanks to the console and PC beta tests.
If the trailer sports an extra layer of polish that’s because it was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who helmed the recent King Kong reboot,Kong: Skull Island. It’s unclear how much of a fan Vogt-Roberts is of theDestinyproperty (if at all), but he does well to bring the world of Bungie’s space shooter to life in live action form. It may be too early for such discussions, but if ever there were to be aDestinyfilm, Vogt-Roberts would be a worthy candidate to helm it.
With the release of theDestiny 2live action trailer, comes the realization that we are only a few days away from the release ofDestiny 2proper on PS4 and Xbox One. It seems like marketing tour has been going on for quite some time now, but finally things will come to ahead once players actually get to go hands on with the game. In the mean time, though, perhaps a few additional views of the trailer are in order.
