They got married in the original series but divorced in season 6

The chemistry between LaGuerta and Batista in theDexteroriginal series was one of the best parts of the middle seasons. While their chemistry and scenes together were a great part of the original show, it obviously had to stop once they divorced in season 6 before LaGuerta died in the season 7 finale. Seeing Batista and LaGuerta in the early formative stages of their eventual relationship is another great aspect ofDexter’slore thatOriginal Sinbrings to life.

Dexter: Original Sin Episode 4 Review - Dexter’s First Fatal Mistake Brings With It A Heart-Stopping Cliffhanger Twist

Dexter: Original Sin episode 4 extends episode 3’s great momentum, introducing Dexter’s third target and his first major rookie mistake.

While both Batista and LaGuerta have a reduced role inDexter: Original Sinthan they had in the original series, their inclusion is still a key part of the prequel. There is also speculation that Laguerta will start to develop feelings for Dexter based on how notably flirtatious she was with him throughout the first season. While that will almost certainly not happen inOriginal Sinsince Dexter is basically the new intern at Miami Metro PD, sparks could continue to fly between Batista and LaGuerta in the later episodes ofOriginal Sin.

Batista & LaGuerta’s Dexter: Original Sin Story Is Still Difficult To Enjoy After The Original Series

She didn’t deserve the fate she got in the season 7 finale

Knowing that, although they eventually get married, Batista and Laguerta get divorced, adds a tragic element to their origin story as it unfolds inOriginal Sin. Most tragic of all is LaGuerta’s fate, getting killed by Deb to save Dexter after everything they had all been through. If anything, Dexter: Original Sinreaffirms that LaGuerta was never a real villain and was one of the biggest examples of Dexter breaking Harry’s code (even though he didn’t kill her and his main focus was not to get caught). Additionally, LaGuerta is one of the best characters inDexter: Original Sinand is perfectly cast.
