One of the strongest endgame bosses inDiablo 4is The Beast in Ice, a hulking frozen creature who can be extremely difficult to beat. This Level 85 opponent was introduced as a new boss in Season 2, offering players another foe that could drop high-tier loot. Those looking for rare, Unique Items should attempt to challenge this cold boss as they try to make a character build stronger.

The only way to face The Beast in Ice is tohaveWorld Tier 4 inDiablo 4unlockedfor at least one character. Even if you have a Level 85 build on a lower World Tier, you’ll never be able to summon the boss if your version of Sanctuary is less threatening. Both Capstone Dungeons that gatekeep higher World Tiers must be beaten at some point in your adventures.

Diablo 4 Season 5 Leveling Guide

Getting all the way leveled up in a new season of Diablo 4 can be a challenge, but there are tips and tricks to make this grind easier and faster.

Where To Find The Beast In Ice (& How To Summon It)

Look For A Particular Nightmare Dungeon

The Beast in Ice can be foundat the Glacial Fissure, a Level 85 dungeon located south of Kyovashad. This area is directly within the Desolate Highlands, a series of mountainous plains with frozen caves nestled in the larger Fractured Peaks region. However, youcan’t summon the boss unless you have specific itemscollected from other places or events on your map.

You can onlysummon the Beast in Ice inDiablo 4bygathering enough Distilled Fear itemsdropped around Sanctuary. You need at least nine Distilled Fear to summon the boss, but there are multiple ways to farm this rare material. Some of the ways you can gather Distilled Fear is by:

Nightmare Dungeons are the best places to find Distilled Fear; you areguaranteed to get at least one from a Tier 30 or higher dungeon. Every ten tiers after 30, you have increased chances of Distilled Fear dropping. For example, you will always receive three Distilled Fears if you beat a Tier 90Nightmare Dungeon inDiablo 4.

As of Season 5, youdo not have to craft a Glacial Fissure Sigilevery time you want to challenge The Beast In Ice. You only need to activate the Nightmare Dungeon once, and then you can just spend the materials again to summon the boss for loot farming another time.

Spending nine Distilled Fears will allow you to summon the normal version of The Beast in Ice boss. However, youcan summon a stronger Tormented version of the bossby spending a Stygian Stone item alongside the Distilled Fears. This Stone can be farmed by completing The Pit in World Tier 4 or by defeating a World Boss appearing in Sanctuary.

How To Defeat The Beast In Ice

Avoid AoE Attacks And Take Down Minions

The Beast in Ice is a terrifying opponent, no matter what version you face, with huge AoE attacks and tons of minions who fight at the boss' side. The Beast wields a huge cleaver, which can deal huge damage to your character if you aren’t careful. You need tokeep your Evade active as much as possibleto avoid the ice conjured by the Beast and the smaller enemies it summons to overwhelm you.

Try totake out minor enemies firstto reduce the sources of damage going towards your character.Consume at least one potion or elixir of Cold Resistancebefore summoning The Beast in Ice to protect yourself against its ice attacks throughout the fight. How To Counter

Cleaving Slash

The Beast in Ice swings its cleaver in front of itself, trying to hit any characters close to it.

This is the boss' basic physical attack, so either tank the damage with Life on Hit abilities or stay away and use long-range skills to prevent the boss from hitting you with this attack.

Flying Ice Breath

When at 70% health, The Beast in Ice flies into the air before creating several AoE ice line attacks.

Evade the lines that appear on the ground to avoid getting frozen by this attack.

Pentagram Of Ice

When landing from Flying Ice Breath, The Beast in Ice creates a huge AoE of exploding ice in pentagram spaces across the arena.

Evade the pentagram shapes of AoE strikes while moving far away from where the boss is using this attack.

Elite Summon

At 30% health, the Beast in Ice will fly up and perform Flying Ice Breath again, but this time summon two Elite enemies as well.

Defeat the Elite enemies while watching for the AoE lines on the ground.

As you’re able to see in the above video by YouTube creatorwudijo, The Beast in Ice will also create a dangerous storm that reduces the size of the boss arena. Be careful not to mistakenly move into spaces where your character can’t go as the fight gets more chaotic.

The Tormented version of The Beast in Ice has the same attack patterns as the normal version but with some minor changes. The Tormented Beast in Ice has more health and deals more damage, making it harder to fight than you may expect. This fight is a test of endurance that only becomes harder if you try to take on the boss with multiple friends and their powerful character builds.
