The First Berserker: Khazanis one of the best Soulslikes of its kind to come out in years, and it includes a ton of difficult and often frustrating bosses that are sure to give any Soulslike veteran a run for their money. There are 16 main bosses inFirst Berserker: Khazan, starting with Yetuga all the way up to the main antagonist, Ozma. If that wasn’t enough, there are 21 secondary bosses that can be found during the various bonus missions in each area as well. However, these are typically reskinned versions of primary bosses.

All the mainbosses inFirst Berserker: Khazanhave their unique attacks and move-sets, and they require players to hone their skills with each successive fight if they have any hopes of making it through to the end. In my experience, every boss inKhazantaught me how to refine my playstyle and utilize different skills in different ways, and I felt a real sense of progression and improvement as I gradually learned how to defeat some of the toughest enemies. Below you will find a brief overview of each main boss inKhazan, in order of appearance.

Khazan main character holding materials

Yetuga

The First Berserker’s First Test

Yetuga is the first main bossKhazan faces off against and is a primer for what’s ahead. Yetuga is sure to frustrate and overwhelm anyone who isn’t familiar with Soulslikes and their inherent difficulty. This will be your first test in the game, forcing you to learn some more basic mechanics and skills, such as brink dodge and guards.

The First Berserker: Khazan - All Unique Crafting Materials & How To Get Them

Crafting gear sets in The First Berserker: Khazan requires unique crafting materials that can be acquired from farming their corresponding bosses.

Defeating Yetuga rewards two random pieces of the Frozen Mountain set, which will be useful at this early stage of the game. You can equip both pieces to get a decent health buff. Yetugacan also randomly drop items from the Ashen Wolf Set,a Frozen Mountain Ruler’s Horn, and an Augment of Wisdom.

Jarlings from The First Berserker Khazan

Blade Phantom

Time To Listen To That Voice In Khazan’s Head

TheBlade Phantom bossis that voice inside Khazan’s head that’s been pestering him all day and night since you started the game, and he wants to take the reins. Khazan isn’t having it, though, and you’ll have to face off against Blade Phantom to put him in his place and form a contract, setting the stage for the main story.Blade Phantom uses phantom form attacks and can be a real pain without ample practice.

You won’t have access to the Soul Eater Scroll to craft the Soul Eater items until you reach Aldevir Central District much later in the game, so farming Blade Phantom is your best bet for a full set.

The First Berserker Khazan boss fight with Yetuga

Defeating Blade Phantomrewards two random pieces of the Soul Eater gear setas well as a random weapon or accessory. The Netherworld Mineral also has a chance of dropping, which is the required material for the Soul Eater set.

Viper

The Next Level Of Difficulty Awaits

Viper is a tough boss inThe First Beserker: Khazanthat takes things up a notch from Blade Phantom and Yetuga, with some of the fastest and wildest movement you’ve seen so far. Timing is everything with Viper, and you’ll want to do your best tomaster the Brink Guard and Reflection skillswhile taking him on. Viper is incredibly challenging because he has a second form, which may come as a surprise after painstakingly draining his first health bar down to zero.

When you defeat Viper, you’ll be rewarded with two random pieces of the Fallen Lord set, a random weapon or accessory, and potentially a Fallen Lord’s Claws. These are the materials you need to craft the Fallen Lord set pieces after finding the scroll in the Silent Temple later on.

Volbaino

A Fired-Up Beast With A Hammer & Chisel

Volbaino is the first bossyou’ll encounter that deals elemental damage (fire) as a regular part of its attacks. He’ll hammer his spike into the floor, light an entire level of the arena on fire, and create huge AoE fire circlesthat limit where Khazan can safely runwithout being lit up. Volbaino does have his weaknesses, however, and you can take advantage of the two floors in the boss arena to make sure things go your way.

Defeating Volbaino rewardstwo random pieces from the Fallen Guardian set, which is a decent fire-enhancing dual-wield set. You may also receive the Guardian’s Hooves material used to craft items from the Fallen Guardian set and a random piece of gear.

Aratra

A Spider Boss With Poison In Its Veins

The spiderboss Aratra inThe First Beserker: Khazanis yet another elemental-damage-dealing boss, but this time it’s poison, and this spider isn’t afraid to use it. Aratra launches giant poison balls that hurt you, dealing damage and building up poison accumulation quickly. Luckily, it has a massive weak spot - its giant abdomen - and if you can stay behind Aratra, you’ll be able to deal a ton of sustained combo damage.

Defeating Aratra is one of the final steps in unlocking theBlacksmith inFirst Berserker: Khazan, giving you access to the"Blacksmith’s Heirloom"bonus mission.

Defeating Aratra rewards two random pieces of the Devourer of Darkness gear set, and possibly a Man-Eating Spider Leg, which is used to craft the Devourer of Darkness set pieces. This is one of the easier bosses in the game,in my opinion, but bring along some Poison Cleansing Potions just in case.

Rangkus

Khazan Dodges Actual Bullets In This Match-Up

The First Beserker: Khazan’s Rangkusis a boss with a heavy-hitting, fast-firing flame gun that can shoot projectiles and allows him to grapple around the boss arena. He’s easily the toughest of any bosses you’ve faced up to this point, and this fight marksa clear elevation of the difficulty levelin the game heading forward. Rangkus will test all of your skills, but he also has a few clear weaknesses that can be exploited.

When you take him out, you’ll be rewarded withtwo random items from the Furious Bandit set, which is a decent dual-wield set for charged attacks. He will also potentially drop the Bandit’s Spoils crafting material used to craft the Furios Bandit Set.

Maluca

A Time For Reflection

Maluca is yet another boss inThe First Beserker: Khazanthat can be one of the hardest in the game and present a significant roadblock if you haven’t mastered the Reflection skill, figured out how to deal sustained combo damage, or fully optimized your gear.A perfectly timed Reflection against Maluca is easy to pull offand will drain his stamina bar, giving you a prime opportunity for a brutal attack.

The First Berserker Khazan: All Jarling Locations & Rewards

There are 44 different Jarlings spread out across the various areas in The First Berserker: Khazan, so don’t forget to smash these jars as you go.

Defeating Maluca rewards two items from the Chaos-Ridden set, a random weapon or accessory, and potentially aChaos Fragment inThe First Beserker: Khazan, which is the unique material required to craft the Chaos-Ridden set pieces. You can find the Chaos-Ridden scrollin the Abandoned Citadel during the"Final Conquest"mission.

Elamein

A Tragic Ending For Khazan’s Dear Friend

Elamein was once Khazan’sdear ally, but unfortunately, that all changed thanks to the Chaos. Now Khazan has to take her down, and he’s unhappy about it. Elamein is a fast boss with many openings where you can do some sustained combo damage. She deals electrocution damage and can shoot lightning at you, souse Vitality Spheres if you’re strugglingwith stamina regeneration.

Defeating Elamein rewards two random pieces from my favorite set for aspear build inThe First Beserker: Khazan, the Crushed Dreams set. This set gives Khazan’s weaponlightning damage after a brink guard andother lightning effects.

Shactuka

Time For Some Beast-Slaying

Shactuka is a massive beastwith a spiked collar who deals heavy damage. He usesa variety of wild, striking, and swiping attacksthat can be hard to time out due to their pacing. However, as with all the bosses so far, practice makes perfect, and you shouldn’t have too hard a time slaying this beast and collecting the two random items from the Beast-Slayer gear set.

You can get the Beastslayer Scroll during the"Why Have You Forsaken Us?“mission in El Ravaca Sector No. 4.

The Beastslayer set is ideal for a Whirlwind-focusedDual Wield build, with set bonuses enhancing the skill to ultimate effect with the Tempest skill. This is arguably thebest skill to use against large opponents, not just for the animation, but also for how much damage it deals to gigantic enemies.

Trokka

The Most Annoying & Beautiful Boss Fight In The Game

Up next is the most annoying and beautiful boss battle inKhazan,Trokka. Trokka is a tough boss due to heremphasis on ranged attacksand various moves at her disposal. Luckily, many of her attacks can be interrupted, but otherwise, they are pretty difficult to dodge and guard against at first because of their odd cadence. Use lightning against Trokka to make your life a little bit easier.

The First Berserker Khazan Has One Unique Feature Every Soulslike Is Missing

The First Berserker: Khazan has a unique feature that lets you earn XP and Skill Points for fighting bosses, even if you end up dying in the process.

Defeating Trokka rewards two random pieces from the Drowned Witch set, my runner-up for best spear gear in the game. This eight-piece set gives your spear and your javelin buffs to ranged attacks, and itimbues your attacks with water damage, making it incredibly unique.
