Powerscaling is a never-ending debate in anime, andNaruto: Shippudenis no exception. With how much the characters’ power levels tend to escalate, and especially with how popularNarutois, even a decade after its finale, fans have always argued over which characters are the strongest, and that’s unlikely to stop anytime soon.

Powerscaling debates will always be a thing inNaruto, and no debate is more contentious than Naruto vs. Sasuke in their final battle. Naruto and Sasuke’s final battle inNaruto: Shippudensaw them reach their respective peaks, and it was also the last time they ever fought each other, so fans have always debated which character was the strongest at that time, even if they ultimately let it end in a draw. That being said, everything presented inNaruto and Sasuke’s final fightmakes it clear that Naruto was far stronger than Sasuke, and there’s very little argument against it.

Naruto: Shippuden’s Final Battle Makes It Clear Why Naruto Was Stronger Than Sasuke

Why Naruto Was Always Stronger Than Sasuke In The Final Battle

Naruto: Shippudendoesn’t make a point aboutwho was stronger between Naruto and Sasukein the final battle, but there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that it was Naruto. For starters, while Sasuke was trying to kill Naruto in their fight, Naruto spent most of the fight on defense or otherwise holding back, something Sasuke even called him out on, yet Naruto still held his ground and overpowered Sasuke numerous times.Naruto likely could have beaten Sasuke if he hadn’t deliberately held back in their fight, and that’s the only reason it was as close as it was.

Naruto and Sasuke’s final big clash also shows how superior Naruto was. Sasuke underwent a massive power-up by absorbing all the chakra of the Tailed Beasts, but not only could Naruto still keep up while having a smaller fraction of their chakra aside from Kurama, but all it took was Naruto gathering up natural energy for him to unleash an attack on par with Sasuke’s strongest attack, Indra’s Arrow. Add in how much Naruto was holding back, andthe way Naruto so easily matched Sasuke’s final form inNaruto: Shippudenmakes it clear that he was the stronger fighter.

Who’s Stronger Between Naruto And Sasuke In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations?

Naruto And Sasuke’s Current Power Level Explained

While Naruto was likely stronger than Sasuke at the end ofNaruto: Shippuden, how they measure up to one another inBoruto: Naruto Next Generationsis a different story. Naruto and Sasuke never fight inBoruto, so there’s never a way to directly compare their power, but anytime they’re forced to fight someone, they’re always framed as being roughly equal in power. Overall,it can be assumed that Naruto and Sasuke have become equals as ofBoruto: Naruto Next Generations, even if the series will never make an explicit statement about their power.

Even their recent losses of power should keep the two roughly even. While Naruto losing Kurama and Sasuke losing his Rinnegan were major losses, they were still incredibly powerful without them by the time they reached adulthood, and with howBorutocontinually frames them as being equals, even Naruto and Sasuke losing some of their biggest powers shouldn’t keep them from being equals inBoruto: Naruto Next Generations. Both Naruto and Sasuke being indefinitely taken out of the action makes that something of a moot point, but it’s worth thinking about, nonetheless.

Powerscaling Naruto And Sasuke In Their Final Fight Misses The Entire Point

Naruto And Sasuke’s Rivalry Was Never About Power

As easy as it is to conclude that Naruto was stronger than Sasuke at the end ofNaruto: Shippuden, any sort of powerscaling surrounding that misses the point of their fight. The whole reason Naruto refused to kill Sasuke was that he refused to give up on their friendship, and the reason Sasuke gave up was that Naruto’s persistence finally made him understand the importance of working with others.Naruto and Sasuke’s final fight was a big deal because of the emotional stakes behind it, not their power, and making it all about powerscaling misses the point of that entirely.

The way Naruto and Sasuke push each other to become stronger is one thing, but their individual efforts to overcome their loneliness inspired the other person to slowly open up to other people, and as such, the biggest draw toNaruto and Sasuke’s rivalryshould always be the emotional weight attached to it, not who’s stronger than whom. That won’t stop people from debating over whether Naruto was really stronger than Sasuke at the end ofNaruto: Shippuden, but at the very least, it would be great if people could acknowledge what really makes their rivalry so good.
