The renewal chances forFromseason 4 get addressed by stars Harold Perrineau and Elizabeth Saunders. With only a few episodes left until the third installment of the hit horror series wraps up,Fromseason 4has yet to be renewed by MGM+. But it doesn’t sound like the show’s finish line is in sight, with minor characters dying almost every week, not to mention the new mysteries being introduced.

In an interview withRadiotimes.com, Perrineau and Saunders talked about whetherFromwill be back for another batch of episodes. Both actors, who play the central characters of Boyd and Donna, respectively, share thatthey don’t know whether season 4 will happen. Perrineau: “I don’t talk to [the writers] about it at all. I’m assuming that we’re going to have a season 4, it seems like worldwide that people are really enjoying the show, and so I’m just going to assume that there is one, but I don’t ask any questions. I have sort of a standing agreement with them that I only know what I have to know for the season, but not beyond that.”

Saunders: “All I know, and this is a very general all I know, is that it was always conceived as having… it’s the long game. I don’t think there was an intention of like, 10 seasons. I don’t know if they have an [idea of] ‘We’re gonna end it after this many seasons.’ I hope we’ll get at least a couple more seasons out of it.”

What Their Responses Mean For From Season 4

Season 3 Probably Won’t Be The Last

With the possible exception of Netflix, which does release a few types of viewership data,it is hard to tell which streaming series is successful. There are Nielsen’s weekly streaming charts, but that is an imperfect measurement because it does not offer a complete picture of viewership and tends to favor shows that release episodes in a binge drop rather than weekly releases. Still, there are some ways to gaugeFrom’s success.

Stephen King-Approved Horror Show Is The Lost Revival We’ve Been Waiting 13 Years For

Stephen King has given his seal of approval to the ongoing horror TV show From, which has all the makings of being the spiritual successor to Lost.

Fromseason 3 has regularly trended on third-party sites, such asReelgood, which track viewership. It is also available on Netflix in some regions around the globe, where it shows up in the Top 10. Aided by the endorsement of seminal author Stephen King, and generally positive reviews from critics, the horror drama is in a strong position to continue. That’s especially true since it is arguably one of the onlybreakout originals on the smaller MGM+ platform. All of this points to the fact thatFrom’s theorieswill be addressed eventually.

From Season 3 Isn’t Setting Up A Series Finale

There’s No Sense Of Closure Just Yet

There are a lot of signs that point toFrom’s likely season 4 renewal. Some of it is unrelated to what’s happening off-screen, such as the fact that the show’s final installment would probably be announced ahead of time. But some of the confidence comes down to what is happening within the universe of the horror series, away from analysis of streaming viewership and the status of MGM+. Story-wise, nothing aboutFromseason 3 signals a sense of finality.

The lack of a renewal, then, may have to do with how MGM+ plans its announcements for the hit drama.

Typically, when a show is reaching the finish line, there is a sense of narrative urgency, but also an avoidance of introducing long-term storylines that would take a long time to resolve.Fromseason 3, on the other hand, has brought in a police officer named Acosta (played by Samantha Brown) who is determined to leave the terrifying place where all the residents are stuck. She’s butting heads with Boyd, wanting to do things differently, which isn’t the sort of rivalry that a series would begin on its way out.

There are also new potential relationships being teased, in addition to new plotlines which would benearly impossible to satisfyingly resolve with only a few episodes left to go. This is without getting into the central questions inFrom, which are not any closer to being answered. The lack of a renewal, then, may have to do with how MGM+ plans its announcements for the hit drama.

Even though season 2 was renewed in April 2022, the same month that season 1 premiered, the third installment was announced only after theFromseason 2 finale. In many cases with renewals, a network or streamer makes a decision well before delivering the news. The announcement itself can be held back for reasons, such as wanting to keep the focus and coverage on the current batch of episodes before turning the spotlight to what happens next. In any case,it is not unusual or concerning that a renewal hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Our Take On From’s Renewal

It Is Likely Coming

It is hard to speak with absolute certainty during a time of contraction in television, when streamers and studios are looking for ways to control spending. Nevertheless, the horror dramais objectively popular in the U.S. and internationally. There is a very good chance that the show will continue, and thattheFromcast isn’t going anywhere.

The three remaining episodes ofFromseason 3 will be released on Sundays on MGM+.
