Genshin Impact5.3’s character banners have leaked and, despite the excitement behind some of the new additions, the rumors show a concerning absence from the gacha system. Version 5.3 is set to be the next major update for HoYoverse’s popular action RPG and it should bring a conclusion to the main Natlan story arc. In addition to that and everything it entails, such as a new weekly boss for players to face, there will also be new units to obtain. In total, leaks mention there will be fournew characters inGenshin Impact5.3, including Mavuika and the Pyro Traveler.
Several other elements from the patch have leaked with the start of the beta tests. This includes the new world boss, which should drop Ascension materials for some characters, as well as the events that take place during the update. It is expected that the annual Lantern Rite Festival will take place in Version 5.3, which should offer players a lot of content to play through. Now, a new leak has highlighted the possible character banners. While the addition ofMavuika inGenshin Impactis exciting, the absence of certain rerun characters poses a concerning look into the game’s future.

Genshin Impact 5.3 Character Banners Have Been Leaked
Two Powerful DPS Units Are Stated For Phase 2 Banners
The character banners for Version 5.3 have allegedly been leaked, showing which units players can expect and when they should appear. The information comes from the leaker known as Full Stop Chan, which was shared in a post tagged as “Questionable” onReddit. According to the leak,Mavuika and Citlali will debut in Phase 1 banners of the next patch, while Arlecchino and Clorinde are set to rerun in Phase 2 banners. Usually, when there are multiple new characters, HoYoverse spreads them across the two banners Phases, but this doesn’t seem to be the case inGenshin Impact5.3.
Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaks: Citlali’s Leaked Kit May Mean She’s Not As Bad A Shielder As Everyone Originally Thought
New leaks about Citlali’s gameplay kit in Genshin Impact 5.3 have leaked, indicating she could actually be a usable Cryo shielder in the game.
On the other hand, this may have a reasonable explanation. There’s a leak stating that all HoYoverse game’s banners will change;when new characters are released, their banners will last the entire patch, while rerun characters will only be featured at the start of Phase 2. This leak was also shared onReddit. As such, Mavuika and Citlali being listed together in the first half may be indicative of the fact that both will be available since the start of Version 5.3, while Arlecchino and Clorinde will only become available during the second half of the upcomingGenshin Impactpatch.

Wriothesley’s Absence From Genshin Impact Banners Has Long Been Noted
Units Released After The Cryo Character Have Already Received Reruns
The concerning aspect of the leak, however, lies with the rumored rerun characters. Arlecchino and Clorinde are both fantastic DPS units that lead many powerful team comps. However, the problem is with the absence of a Wriothesley rerun, for that matter. This has been an issue for quite some time now and, with every patch, the problem becomes more troubling.Since his debut in Version 4.1 (he was available from mid-October through early November in 2023), Wriothesley has not appeared in any rerun banners. The absence ofWriothesley inGenshin Impactbanners is made even more explicit by other reruns.
Genshin Impact 5.3’s Leaked Events Show The Next Update Will Be Massive
New leaks about Genshin Impact 5.3 include details about the upcoming events and what looks like the Lantern Rite, which should make for a huge patch.
Neuvillette, who also debuted in Version 4.1, although during Phase 1 banners, has already rerun in Version 4.5 and is confirmed to rerun in Version 5.2. The Hydro character Furina was released after Wriothesley, in Version 4.2, and has already reran in Version 4.7. If Arlecchino and Clorinde, who debuted in Versions 4.6 and 4.7, respectively, are truly the next rerun characters in Version 5.3, the lack of a Wriothesley rerun will become even more noticeable.

Wriothesley is, notably, one of the bestCryo characters inGenshin Impact, so not giving players the chance to pull for him ends up affecting the Cryo element as a whole.
Surely, Citlali will make her debut in Version 5.3 as a Cryo character, but she is expected to occupy the role of a shielder and support unit, whereas Wriothesley is a main DPS in team comps. Being able to deal consistent and powerful Cryo DMG puts him in the same category as Ganyu, who is an equally strong Cryo DPS. As much as Wriothesley’s absence from character banners is made more concerning with eachGenshin Impactupdate, especially because newer units are already rerunning ahead of him,the problem seems to be with Cryo, specifically, and not just Wriothesley.

Cryo Is At An All-Time-Low In Genshin Impact
Cryo-Related Reactions Need A Comeback
It’s not just Wriothesley who hasn’t rerun, but other Cryo characters have been notoriously absent from banners for quite some time. The Cryo support unit Shenhe last appeared in Version 3.5 banners, nearly two years ago. Shenhe’s absence from banners is even more ludicrous if considering the fact that the 5-star character received a new outfit during this year’s Lantern Rite Festival, but only players who already owned her were capable of purchasing and equipping it onShenhe inGenshin Impact. She is not the only one: the aforementioned Ganyu hasn’t appeared in rerun banners in a while.
Genshin Impact 5.3 Leaks Hint At Update You’ve Been Waiting For Ages To Happen
A great system optimization update for Artifacts may occur in Genshin Impact 5.3, allowing players to have a better time when farming them.
Ganyu’s last rerun banner occurred in Version 3.6, just one patch after Shenhe. Like her Cryo companion, Ganyu also received a new outfit for this year’s Lantern Rite Festival, but the character herself was not made available anytime close to the event.Even Eula, who is a Cryo character mostly specialized in dealing Physical DMG to opponents, hasn’t appeared in banners since Version 3.8. The most recent 5-star Cryo character to rerun was Ayaka in Version 4.3, but even so, she’s been powercrept by Wriothesley, too. This is really bad news for Cryo as an Element inGenshin Impact.

While other Reactions are getting more complex and powerful with the introduction of new characters,Reactions related to Cryo, like Melt and Superconduct are fading. These are still strong Reactions, but there are fewer reasons to continue using them as the game pushes forward only focusing on other Reactions. With Pyro in the spotlight due to the exploration of Natlan and the eventual release of Mavuika and thePyro Traveler inGenshin Impact, this would be the perfect time for Melt Reactions to make a strong comeback.
With both Pyro characters rumored to be sub-DPS units, viable substitutes for Xiangling, they could work very well dealing off-field Pyro DMG while an on-field Cryo DPS like Wriothesley helps trigger Melt.

As disappointing as the leaks are, they should still be taken with a grain of salt. Rerun characters are the most subject to change among leaks, so there is still a chance that the rerun lineup will be changed a few times before the Version 5.3 livestream. Even though Citlali is a Cryo character, the absence of Wriothesley and Shenhe, for example, will still be noted if they don’t rerun. Nevertheless,Genshin Impact5.3 is building up to be a great update for players, despite the lack of Cryo rerun units.
