Summary
Obtaining the limited 5-star characters from futureGenshin Impactbanners is about to get a whole lot easier thanks to one massive update arriving in Version 5.0. The patch will bring forth the region of Natlan and a roster of new playable characters, each with their own unique mechanics, and, of course, new stories. While thenew Natlan characters inGenshin Impact5.0are some of the most enticing new additions, there are also several system optimizations being implemented during the patch, including an update that will allow players to have an easier time with their 5-star pulls.
As was revealed during the Version 5.0 livestream, broadcast on the officialGenshin Impactchannel on Twitch, a new mechanic called Capturing Radiance is being implemented in limited-time character banners. When disputing a 50/50 pull between the featured character and a random 5-star pull from the banner, players have a chance of triggering the Capturing Radiance effect, which then ensures that the featured character will be pulled instead of a random 5-star. This offers players a better chance at winning their 50/50 pulls and obtaining the newGenshin Impactcharacter they want instead of a Qiqi, for example.

The true name of the Pyro Archon in Genshin Impact has allegedly been leaked, and it could hint at some of the upcoming story details in Natlan.
Players Have A Better Chance At Pulling Limited 5-Star Characters In Genshin Impact
Capturing Radiance Has A 55% Chance Of Activating
The activation of the Capturing Radiance mechanic, however, is not guaranteed. As such, players are still at risk of getting a 5-star character from the standard banner. As is explained by HoYoverse in an official post onHoYolab, when players trigger a disputed 50/50 5-star pull from a limited character banner, there is a 55% chance that Capturing Radiance will be activated, ensuring that the pull will be the limited character. Capturing Radiance is represented by a new visual effect when pulling from limited character banners starting inGenshin Impact5.0.
This mechanic doesn’t affect the banner’s regular soft and hard pities. As such, players still have to invest dozens of Wishes into the banners. Instead, it only tips the odds into the favor of the player when they stumble across a 50/50 5-star pull. Should they fail the pull and obtain a standard 5-star instead of the featured character, the pity will remain the same and their next 5-star pull will be, indisputably, the limited character – when obtaining the limited character through this method, given that it is already ensured, Capturing Radiance inGenshin Impactwill not be activated.

The idea behind the implementation of the Capturing Radiance mechanic is to reduce the odds of players with bad luck losing their 50/50 pulls from banners. Overall, players may feel a slight nudge toward the limited characters that they want instead of failing all of their 50/50 pulls from limited character banners.
Of course, this is not a massive overhaul to their odds of pulling the limited character, but it increases the combined odds.
This is but one of the many changes that are set to come with Version 5.0. The update will also adjust the weapon’s banner to only include one Fate Point, while buffing certain enemy material drop rates, adding World Level 9, and more. Perhaps one of the best system optimizations is the inclusion of anArtifact-crafting system inGenshin Impact5.0, which will allow players to build the piece they want with the ideal stat and two sub-stats.
