2025 is shaping up to be spectacular forGodzilla, asIDW Publishinghas multiple upcoming projects for everybody’s favorite Kaiju, including an adventurous mini-series, a brand new anthology, and highly-anticipated Mothra series. In announcing those three series, IDW also promised more to come in a monstrously fun year, giving fans something to look forward to in the months ahead.
In an exclusive interview with Comicbook.com, Godzilla line editor Jake Williams sat down to discuss several of the exciting upcomingKaiju projects on IDW’s docket. The monstrous lizard has been a mainstay at IDW for a decade, butthis new universe is something truly special–built from the ground up to have Godzilla at its heart.

Monster fans won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the first few projects, either, sinceGodzilla: Heist, a mini-series, debuts February 19, and theGodzilla vs. Americaanthology andMothra: Queen of the Monstersseries are hot on its heels weeks later.

Godzilla Vs. The World
Although Godzilla is currently enjoying a piece of the spotlightover at Marveland DC, his central role in IDW’s unfolding universe is shaping up to be the kind of thing fans dream of. Jake Williams’ expressed his particular excitement for the upcoming mini,Godzilla: Heist, stating that it was an “easy one to immediately greenlight” and will handle Godzilla being summoned as a distraction for a robbery. It’s only the first in a growing line of Kaiju stories, asGodzilla vs. Americawill let the lizard stompthrough new cities all across the United States, potentially turning into a long-running series.

As thrilling as new Godzilla titles are,IDW is leaping at the chanceto showcase other Kaiju, too.Mothra: Queen of the Monstersis an exciting reveal, and Williams said choosing Mothra as the star was an obvious choice, as she’s a fan favorite and comes equipped with an epic backstory and lore to easily carry her own tale.New Kaiju and characters are also slated to be released inGodzilla: The New Heroes, which will be available during 2025’s Free Comic Book Day and be the true kick-off for the universe.

We’ve created a new world to explore, and we’re going to use the various series to show every angle of it. This take is going to let us do different stories, in different genres, that will feel standalone, but also serve as a smaller part of the larger narrative.
Before the year is even halfway finished, Godzilla fans will already have a feast of content to enjoy and the promise of much more on the way.Williams expressed an interest in creating “long running stories"and the team is ready to keep writing whatever books connect with the fanbase.
