Disney+‘sGoosebumpsseason 2 finished on a high note, but the updated ending plan repeats one of the most frustrating parts of the release plan for season 1. Based on the iconichorror children’s books by R.L. Stine, the Disney+ series follows a different story every season. The second season, which has the anthological nameGoosebumps: The Vanishing, follows a pair of twins named Cece and Devin and their friends – Alex, CJ, and Frankie – who get roped into the 30-year-old disappearance of four teenagers.

Although sophomore seasons typically falter,Goosebumps: The Vanishingwas exciting to watch and chockful of body horror to make the audience’s skin crawl. The story stays true to the source material with the shocking ending. The creators previously explained thatthey wanted toend theGoosebumpsseasons on cliffhangerslike R.L. Stine does this with his novels. However, they backtracked on this decision, repeating a disappointing choice fromGoosebumpsseason 1.

After season 1’s cliffhanger ending, Scholastic put out a companion book,Goosebumps: The Haunting Returnsby Kate Howard, which told the story in writing with extra scenes and an exclusive ending that isn’t available anywhere else. Why The Release Plan For The Goosebumps Show Keeps Getting More Frustrating

The Goosebumps Creative Team Needs To Stick To Their Decision About A Cliffhanger Ending

TheGoosebumpsTV show continues to end the story on a cliffhanger that’s so intriguing it leaves the viewers wanting more. Because of the anthological format, they can’t conclude the story in the next season. If they simply stayed firm in their idea of ending on cliffhangers, the choice, while divisive, would be fine. However, it feels like a slap in the face to fans of the show to provide a proper ending, but only in a companion book.

They either need to dig their heels in on the decision to end the season with cliffhangers – not providing an answer in a book – or end the story onscreen.

Viewers already have to pay for Disney+ or Hulu, and the prices simply keep rising. It’s unreasonable and inconsiderate to expect fans to pay more money to get the actual ending. They either need to dig their heels in on the decision to end the season with cliffhangers – not providing an answer in a book – or end the story onscreen. If they really want a cash grab, Scholastic can continue to release tie-inGoosebumpsbooks that provide new scenes throughout the story, or they could do a spinoff with the same characters. By approaching the story this way, they’re making the book feel supplemental instead of compulsory.
