As George R. R. Martin’s belovedGame of Thronesbooks continue to expand and get adapted to the screen, the author seemingly confirms a new prequel series is getting a season 2.TheGame of Thronesfranchise has been growing since the original series came to a close, with a multitude of series going into development in the years since. So far, the decision to expand Westeros' timeline appears to be working, withHouse of the Dragonearning positive reviewssince its debut in 2022.

AsHouse of the Dragonseason 3nears development, with an expected release window of 2026, HBO is also planning on continuing to expand Martin’s fantasy world with even more series. This includes a prequel about Aegon Targaryen’s conquest in ancient Westeros, alongside an animated series calledThe Sea Snake. Originally, a Jon Snow sequel was also in the works, but the show has since been shelved. However,there is one promising prequel that will seemingly be getting multiple seasons, even if they haven’t been officially announced yet.

Martin has seemingly confirmed thatA Knight of the Seven Kingdomsseason 2 is quietly in the works, despite no official confirmation about its renewal. The upcomingGame of Thronesprequel isbased on his novella series,Tales of Dunk and Egg,following hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey), and his squire, Prince Aegon Targaryen (Dexter Sol Ansell).A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' storywill be told over the course of six episodes, seemingly adapting the first novella in the series,The Hedge Knight.

The next Game of Thrones spinoff will deviate from the formula of the previous two shows, becoming HBO’s answer to the success of The Mandalorian.

In his latest post on Not a Blog,Martinseemingly confirmed that the second tale of the Dunk and Egg story,The Sworn Sword, is moving forward. This suggests thatA Knight of the Seven Kingdomsseason 2 is possibly in the works, with the next novella serving as a basis for its story. SinceGame of Thronesis continually expanding as a franchise, it only make sense that its spinoffs and prequels would run for multiple seasons.
