How To Prepare For Black Loong

Be Ready For Lightning Attacks And Shock

Like some other Loong bosses, Black Loonguses lightning attacks that inflict Shock statusagainst you. The Shock conditioncauses you to take more damage from attacks, so you never want to be affected by this if you can help it.

You’ll want toupgrade your Gourd inBlack Myth: Wukongto have ways to cure Shock if Black Loong inflicts it on you. The drinks and soaks you apply to your Gourd can be adjusted to heal status conditions, but sometimes at the sacrifice of less overall health restoration. Alternatively, you can also use Shock Quelling Powder to eliminate Shock if it ever gets applied.

Shock Quelling Powder can be bought at the Bitter Lake Precept Corridor shop for 180 Will each, so if you have the currency to spend, pick up a few of these alleviating medicines.

Try totake down optional bossesfor extra Will and spirit transformations that may be useful for the Black Loong fight. Turning into a former foe allows you to protect your regular health, as taking damage in a transformation just reduces how long your shape-shifting lasts. The Will you gain can be used to craft better equipment to boost your total defense or attacking power needed to rival Black Loong’s.

How To Defeat Black Loong

Dodge AoE Attacks At All Times

Despite the physically intimidating presence of Black Loong, the real danger comes from thebursts of AoE lightning created by the boss' two maces. Imbued with thunder, these maces often strike the ground and create huge rings of elemental damage that travel from the boss. These rings disperse across the entire boss arena and can be challenging to avoid unless you manage toprecisely dodge each attack.

As you may see in the above video by YouTube creatorPowerPyx, you want tostay aggressivethroughout this fight. Black Loong doesn’t have much health, but its attacks deal a ton of damage if they hit you directly. Try tosummon clones or spirit alliesto help raise the damage or stun you can build quickly as you fight.

How To Counter

Hammer Strike

Black Loong slams one of its maces into the ground, creating a ring of lightning that travels in a ring across the arena.

Get behind the boss to avoid the strike with a dodge. Then, dodge the ring of electricity as it gets close to you.

Lightning War Cry

Raising its arms, Black Loong clashes its maces together three times, creating a large AoE of lighting each time its weapons hit each other.

The AoE from each time the maces hit each other only occurs in front of the boss, so get behind it to avoid this attack.

Electric War Drums

Black Loong gathers electricity in a roar before drumming its hammers into the ground six to seven times. Each time, it creates a large AoE ring of lightning that travels across the entire arena.

Jump onto one of the rocks in the arena to get above this attack, then strike back as the boss recovers.

You can hold the heavy attack input during the Pillarstance inBlack Myth: Wukongto balance on your staff above the arena, which will avoid any ring of lightning created by Black Loong’s attacks.

The boss will use its Electric War Drums attack twice, once when it loses around 33% of its health and again when it loses about 66%. This move is perhaps the deadliest in Black Loong’s arsenal, as each ring it creates is close to one another and extremely hard to dodge in sequence. Black Loong will perform a final, larger slam after this attack, so be ready to dodge with a slightly delayed timing.
