The Galar region’s Water-type starter Pokémon, Sobble, has finally made itsPokémon GOdebut to kick off the Max Out season. This emotional creature is known for crying when it gets sad or overwhelmed, but its final evolution, Inteleon, is a suave, secret agent-inspired lizard that could be a pretty powerful ally to have on your team, so it’s a good idea to get one while you can.

Alongside theGrass-type Grookeyand the Fire-type Scorbunny, Sobble was one of the first Pokémon that Trainers got to meet in the mainlineScarlet & Violetgames on Nintendo Switch. Now, five years later, all three Galar-region starters are making their debut inPokémon GO,meaning you can finally catch Sobble and evolve it into Drizzile and Inteleon, getting you one step closer to that completed Pokedex.

There are four Pokémon to catch in Spotlight Hours during September, as well as bonuses like double catch XP to make the most of in Pokémon GO.

How To Catch Sobble In Pokémon GO

Find One In The Wild Or Hatch It From An Egg

There are two main ways to encounter Sobble during the Max Out season:Find one as a wild spawn or hatch one from a 5km Egg. This will be the case throughout the entire season, which is scheduled to finish on Jun 13, 2025, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch a good Sobble and stock up on Candy to evolve it or power it up.

However, you’ll have abetter chance of encountering Sobble during the GO All Out event, which runs from September 3 to August 25, 2025. To celebrate this event, Sobble will appear more frequently in the wild. You’ll also be able to encounter Sobble as a reward for completing specific event-exclusive Field Research tasks that can be obtained by spinning PokéStops.

Sobble on a watery background in Pokemon GO

I’ve already managed to find a few Sobble spawning in the wild since the event started, although they’re certainly not as frequent as other common spawns like Wooloo and Skwovet. More importantly, the Galar-region starters all seem to have very low catch rates, so I’d recommend using an Ultra Ball and a Razz Berry when catching them. Landing a Great or Excellent Throw will definitely help boost your odds, too.

Remember to use Incense and Lure Modules when hunting for Sobble, as this will increase the number of wild spawns in your area. You can also check the ‘Nearby’ feature to see if there are any Sobble silhouettes appearing at nearby PokéStops.

Sobble and its evolutions Drizzile and Inteleon in Pokemon GO

Finally, if you want a guaranteed Sobble encounter, you’ll be able tochoose it as your partner Pokémon at the beginning of the Max Out Special Research story. This season-long story will be given out for free to any Trainer who logs in toPokémon GOduring the Max Out season, so make sure you open the app before that comes to a close on July 03, 2025.

How To Evolve Sobble In Pokémon GO

Stock Up On Lots Of Sobble Candy

Once you’ve caught a Sobble, you’ll need 25 Candy to evolve it into Drizzile, and then a further 100 Candy to evolve it into Inteleon. There are no evolution items or Buddy tasks required to complete this process, which makes it fairly straightforward. This means you’ll need a total of 125 Sobble Candy to complete this entire evolution chain, putting it on par with all of the other starter Pokémon that have appeared inPokémon GO.

Unlike fellow Galar-region Pokémon Dreepy, Sobble should be a fairly common wild spawn throughout the Max Out season, particularly during the GO All Out event, so getting enough Candy to evolve it shouldn’t be too time-consuming. Remember touse Pinap Berrieswhen catching Sobble to get some extra Candy. You can also set it as your Buddy Pokémon to find Candy while you’re out exploring together.

Sobble and Shiny Sobble in Pokemon GO

While it might be tempting to use Rare Candy to speed up the process and evolve Sobble sooner, it’s not worth it. Rare Candy is hard to come by, so you’re much better off saving it for a Legendary Pokémon or an uncommon spawn like Dreepy.

Can Sobble Be Shiny In Pokémon GO?

This Rare Variant Isn’t In The Game Just Yet

The bad news is that Shiny Sobble is currentlyunavailable to encounter inPokémon GO. This is the same for the other Galar-region starters, Grookey and Scorbunny. It’s rare that a new Pokémon arrives in the mobile game alongside itsrare Shiny variant, as they’re usually saved for a future event to help build up anticipation among Trainers.

For now, regular Sobble, Drizzile, and Inteleon will have to do. Based on previous starter Pokémon that have already appeared inPokémon GO, it’s highly likely that Shiny Sobble will make its debut when it headlines a Community Day event, so keep an eye out for any announcements about this in the coming years.
