Like previous games in the series,Assassin’s Creed Shadowsoffers players the chance to romance certain characters you meet during your playthrough in Japan. The gamefeatures two playable characters, Naoe and Yasuke, both of whom can be selected for the majority of missions and have certain individual quests which can lead to romance options for them.

Naoe’s next interacts with Gennojo in theHonor Among Thieves quest.It is started by meeting him in Kyoto. During this quest, you complete a task for him, using your stealth skills to steal a scroll. Once you have done this, you will have a conversation at the end of the mission. Here you need to select “I’m keeping it, then"in conversation.
All the dialogue options that lead to romancing another character have a heart next to their selection, so you should be able to avoid missing any of them.

Straight after completing the previous mission, you will get another opportunity to meet Gennojo in Kyoto to start another quest. There are two conversations at the start and end of the mission where specific lines need to be selected. At the beginning, the first option you should pick is, “I’m here for you.”
The two characters' journey together carries on further in"The Godless Harvest” questinAssassin’s Creed Shadows,which can change Gennojo’s fate, but it makes no difference to further romancing with the character.
At the end of the quest, select"I’d like to embrace you.“This leads to Naoe asking Gennojo to kiss him.
