There are two main types of season scenarios inOnce Human(PvE and PvP) which dictate whether the primary events are working together or against other players. In PvE scenarios, players work cooperativelyto accomplish season goals to advance the phases of the scenario, including defeating world bosses and participating in group events, such as Prime Wars.

Prime Wars involve players building defenses for aStaroid Restrainerand defeating powerful bosses, orOriginal Entity (OE) Kin, through specific strategies. Each player present can contribute in different ways to earn points to gain rewards, and completing a Prime War allows access to higher leveled Prime Wars that would otherwise be restricted. Here is how to participate in, and win, Prime Wars inOnce Human.

What Is a Prime War?

General Information About What, How, & Why

Prime Wars is a PvE mechanic where players arrive in designated locations to participate in a group boss event. They can be seen on the map and will have ashimmering stardust shieldaround their locations when traveling to them. Prime Wars can be Easy, Hard, Pro, and Nightmare, andrequire players to complete the previous difficultyto advance. In general, Prime Wars have four main phases.

Final Assault

These phases are consistent across all Prime Wars. Building in the preparation phase can begin when you arrive at the Prime War location, regardless of whether the restrainer has activated or not. However, earning pointswill not begin until the countdown timer starts. After five minutes, the OE Kin will spawnand the battle will commence.

Earning Points In Prime Wars

There are four main types of points that can be earned in Prime Wars, which are needed to “complete” the Prime War. Completing a Prime War involves earning enough points to receive all three reward chests from the Prime War, and also gives an additional one-time reward ofStarchrom.

Team Support

The easiest of these to earn is theSilver Plague Vanquisher, though it requires unlocking the memetic to build theGatling Turret(“Close Defense Turret” in the memetics menu), preferably the level 2 turret. Using a Gatling Turret and Biomass Missiles or Red Plasma Rounds is required to break the OE Kin’s shield. If there are no turrets at the Prime War, it isextremely unlikely the Prime War will succeed.

Monster Eliminationis straightforward damage to the OE Kin bosses and other monster spawns. This should be done after the shield is broken, and involves using your regular weapons and deviations to damage the OE Kin. If there is not enough damage fast enough, then theOE Kin will regenerate its shield, requiring turrets to be used again.

Staroid Restrainer in Once Human.

Previously, graphically intensive build effectssuch as Burn Buildsor Frost damage were discouraged due to lag, and players were urged not to use their deviations. However, server performance seems to have drastically improved, and both elemental effects and deviations have been used successfully inPrime Wars lasting less than five minutes.

Defense Structurespoints are earned when placed defenses are either destroyed or damaged by the OE Kin and other enemies. Preferably, foundations, walls, doors, andfencing should be placed around the Staroid Restrainerto protect it from attack. You can also place defenses near the spawn point of the OE Kin to slow down its progression. However,do not spam fences on the spawn point or OE Kin’s path. This does create significant lag issues if too many people do so, and is generally frowned upon during Prime Wars.

Lastly, theTeam Supportpoints are the easiest to do and can be done so before the OE Kin spawns to provide approximately 300 points. To do this, simply use a grenade, molotov, or fall damage to reduce your health or down yourself. Then, use an Activator or Adrenaline Shot to heal back up. If you do this for enough healing, you should receive a full 300 points.

On top of the points earned through these methods, points are also awarded based on how fast the Prime War is completed. This means even just 300 points from Team Support can be enough to earn 1000 points, easily completing all three tiers of some Prime Wars.

Finding & Starting A Prime War

Activating Staroid Restrainers & Preparing For War

Staroid Restrainersare the activation point for Prime Wars, and also the ultimate target of the OE Kin bosses. to start a Prime War, one player must provide a number ofStaroids, a currency rewarded through gameplay, quests, and commissions, to begin the Prime War. Once activated, a five-minute timer will begin, allowing players to now teleport to the location and prepare.

In my experience, these five minutes are plenty of time to place defenses, consume foods and drinks for buffs, and set up your offensive positions. However, if you are new to Prime Wars, I recommend arrivingbefore the restrainer is activatedso you may get your bearings. Specifically, you’ll want to knowwhere the restrainer is and where the boss will spawn.

If you have the time, attempt to visit the Prime War locations well before one is expected to start. That way, you canfind the spawnerand mark it on your map for reference, as well asscope out a good defensive locationto place your turrets.

Prime War Bosses

How To Survive & Defeat Each OE Kin Boss

Each Prime War boss has a spawn within the Prime War area, which looks like asilvery liquid puddleon the ground. ensure to place your foundations, fences, and turrets with that location in mind to be sure you’re able to see and hit the OE Kin when it spawns. Do not place foundations and turrets too close, as they can be destroyed by the OE Kin!

Once Human: How To Defeat The Forsaken Giant

One of the bosses you’re able to try to defeat in Once Human is The Forsaken Giant, whose big attacks can be hard to overcome unless you know its weaknesses.

Once the shield is destroyed and the OE Kin’s health is drastically reduced, you’ll notice the bossbecomes immune to damagebut does not have a silver shield bar. This means it is preparing for its Final Assault.Hold your fireand complete the final assault conditions, after which the OE Kin will be vulnerable again and can be defeated.

Final Tips & Tricks For Prime Wars

Additional Things To Know

Prime Wars require the cooperation of the server to complete. Thankfully, each Prime War is instanced and combines allplayers from each worldup to a maximum of 40 players. Communicate in chat to coordinate a start time for Prime Wars and make sure other players are available to join, and give updates on the countdown timer so they know when to prepare.

At a minimum, there should be at leasttwo Gatling Turretspresent for each Prime War, preferably the tier two version, though higher level Prime War difficulties will need more. The easiest way to pack and build turrets for Prime Wars is tobuild them at your base and then demolish them. The resources for the turrets will beplaced in your inventory.

If you have the resources, you can help other players participate bybringing enough supplies for multiple turrets. However, I’ve found thattoo many turretswill create significant lag issues. Having more than eight or so players on a turret causes issues during the shield phase and can prevent missiles from landing.

If the lag becomes too much and your missiles are not making contact with the OE Kin,hold your fireuntil it resolves. Unfortunately, you’re able to waste dozens of missileswhen firing during these spikes as the game registers them being shot, but not them damaging the boss. Thankfully, this issue is getting better with game optimization.

Biomass Missiles and Red Plasma Roundsare the two primary forms of ammunition for Gatling Turrets. Both methods are somewhat expensive to make, but Red Plasma Rounds expire over 24 hours and require a memetic specialization to make. They do, however, deal a great amount of damage to boss shields. Choose carefully which ones you prefer to make, butprovided you have easy access to fuel and oil refining, Biomass Missiles can be much cheaper.

There is also an additional memetic specialization thatincreases the damage of Gatling Turrets you build by +30%. There is also one thatreduces the weight of Biomass Missiles while also tripling the amount crafted. If you do not have the Biomass Missile memetic specialization, ask if someone in your server does, and if they are willing to craft missiles for you. Many players are willing to do so.

Overall, Prime Wars can be a difficult but rewarding event inOnce Humanrequiring cooperation between players. While it may seem difficult at first, many players are willing to help others by providing advice, foundations, turrets, and ammunition so each war is a success. With a little practice, you should have no trouble holding your own and defeating the bosses!
