Hunter X Hunteris finally returning to the pages ofWeekly Shonen Jumpafter 2 years of excruciating hiatus, and fans can finally see the continuation of what is looking up to be the series' best arc yet. With less than a month to go, this is when and where fans can read the next chapter of the series.
The series is currently in the Succession War arc, an arc with multiple branching storylines that is about to connect and result in the most impactful stretch of chapters yet. WithKurapika as the main character, the avenger is tasked with defending the infant prince of Kakin against the 13 other Princes in a contest to kill each other and the last one standing becoming the King. Furthermore, other players such as the Phantom Troupe, Zodiacs, Hisoka, and the Kakin Mafia are involved and will definitely play a part in this blood-filled story.

When Will Hunter X Hunter Chapter #401 Be Released?
Hunter X Hunterchapter #401 has been confirmed to be released on June 08, 2025, inWeekly Shonen Jumpissue #45. It will beavailable to read internationally on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app on October 6 at8 AM Pacific Standard Time, 3 PM Greenwich Time, 11 AM Eastern Standard Time, 10 AM Central Standard Time, and 8 AM Pacific Standard Time.
It is still unknown whether future chapters of Hunter X Hunter will follow a weekly publication as they did last time, or if the series is switching to a different format, given the announcement by Shonen Jump when the series last went on hiatus.
What Happened In Hunter X Hunter Chapter #400?
Alliances, Plotting And Conflict
The chapter starts with Feitan and Phinks continuing the search for the transmitter, and they narrowed it down to tier 4 or 2. Nobunaga meets up with them, and as they go down to tier 4 to check if the transmitter’s distance is getting closer, Nobunaga feels uneasy about the entire situation, and his suspicions are confirmed when they realize the transmitter is on tier 2.
Realizing that Morena is on tier 2 and how it makes the mafia war much more complicated, Nobunaga decides to get Franklin before going up to tier 2 through Cha-r’s hideout, in case they meet a Hei-ly member with troublesome abilities or worse, Hisoka.
Izunavi finally understands that Prince Tyson’s ability is connected to how much people read her book. Izunavi urges her to speak to the King and convince him to read the book, as this might be a way to end the Succession War. Meanwhile, Kacho (the ghost of Fugetsu’s dead sister), Melody, and Kaiser plot to kill some of the Princes at the next banquet using poison and Melody’s musical ability, which hypnotizes whoever hears it.
However, Fugetsu’s health is depreciating due to a curse, and Melody narrows down the culprit to one of the Princes who asked to meet with her. She meets with each of them to find who is responsible for the curse and exorcise Fugetsu before she dies.
An Unlikely Prince Starts Making His Move
Given how many plot points and storylines there are that are happening simultaneously, it is hard to predict what the chapter will focus on but there is a good chance the next few chapters will still havethe Phantom Troupe as the headliners. Before taking on Morena and her gang, the three will go down to tier 4 to get Franklin and will only go up once they get him, unless there is some unforeseen interruption.
Melody’s dilemma with rescuing Fugetsu is making her more anxious, and while she ruled out Zhang Lei and Tsserendiech as the perpetrators, there is still Benjamin, Tubeppa, and Luzurus she has to meet. Furthermore, all three are more aggressive in meeting with her and even offer to pardon her for assisting Prince Kacho’s attempted escape.
Kurapika’s deal with Tubeppa is still unknown, especially since Kurapika was the one to be approached. It seems Fifth Prince Tubeppa is becoming more active in the Succession War, as he has started to seek an alliance of sorts with both Melody and Kurapika, so fans can expect this wild card to be more important.
Hunter X Hunteris at its most interesting, and fans will witness this political thriller in action again after so long. There are already 60 chapters so far in this arc, so the series is getting closer to tying in the various plot points. While the Succession War feels dragging at times, it’s mostly because of the hiatuses that the author is forced to take. The story, read in sequence, is as exciting as fans ofHunter X Hunterare used to, and this new batch of chapters will surely bring new developments and plot twists.
