Although it makes sense that Lorelai and Christopher continue to have lingering feelings for one another throughout the show,Gilmore Girlsdrags their romance storyline out for too long.
Ginny & Georgia Admits A Harsh Reality That Gilmore Girls Never Could
Ginny & Georgia and Gilmore Girls have a surprising amount in common, but the former acknowledges a big problem that the latter never could.
Lorelai returns to Christopher multiple times throughout the series, even when it doesn’t make much sense. This is bound to happen at least once at the beginning, but Lorelai marrying Chris after she and Luke got together is questionable. Unfortunately,Zion and Georgia’s relationship could just as easily go in this direction; the two prove to feel strongly about one another throughoutGinny and Georgiaseasons 1 and 2.
They get together once, despite Georgia being with Paul, but the Netflix series shouldn’t drag out their potential endgame likeGilmore Girlsdoes. If Zion and Georgia do wind up together, the path to that should be more straightforward. And if Georgia finds happiness with someone else,Ginny and Georgiashould allow her to co-parent with Zion platonically.

They Both Decide To Move Forward In Ginny And Georgia
The reason I worry thatGinny and Georgiawill repeatGilmore Girls’mistake is thatGeorgia and Zion’s relationship is introduced in a similar way to Christopher and Lorrelai’s. Zion shows up out of the blue, and it’s immediately clear that Ginny adores him. He and Georgia also wind up sleeping together, despite the fact that Georgia has seemingly found happiness and stability in her romance with Paul. It feels a lot likeGilmore Girlsseason 1, and to be fair, this needs to happen in both shows.
I don’t want to see them backtrack like Christopher and Lorelai, especially if that will negatively affect a vulnerable Ginny in the process.
I’m glad Georgia and Zion get their unresolved feelings out of the wayat the beginning ofGinny and Georgia,opening the door to do more interesting things with their characters later on. I just hope the series doesn’t retread this territory again later. With Georgia and Zion deciding to go their separate ways — even if they’re still attracted to one another —Ginny and Georgiasends the message that both characters are moving forward. I don’t want to see them backtrack like Christopher and Lorelai, especially if that will negatively affect a vulnerable Ginny in the process.
Why Georgia & Zion Shouldn’t Be More Than Friends In Future Seasons
Ginny’s Well-Being & Feeling Repetitive Are Among The Biggest Reasons
There are a couple big reasons Georgia and Zion shouldn’t be more than friends inGinny & Georgia,andGinny’s well-being is chief among them. While Ginny’s romantic relationships don’t mirror Rory Gilmore’s, her reaction to her parents' will-they, won’t-they relationship is similar. Like Rory, Ginny doesn’t want the tensions between her parents to come between her and them. Additionally, Ginny doesn’t want Zion to leave again — and to his credit, he’s better about it than Christopher. But a failed relationship between Zion and Georgia could complicate things, and Ginny is already in a vulnerable place as it is.
Ginny & Georgiaseason 3 doesn’t have a release date as of this writing, but production wrapped in September 2024.
Georgia and Zion getting back together would also feel repetitive, asGinny & Georgiaalready addresses their lingering feelings in season 1. Unless the Netflix show intends to make the pair endgame — and that doesn’t seem to be the direction it’s headed in — it should avoid returning to this possibility. Georgia’s relationships with Paul and Joe are more interesting, and Zion’s girlfriend also seems like a positive development for him.Ginny & Georgiashouldn’t shake things up for the sake of drama, especially when the show has enough chaos to contend with in season 3 and beyond.
