There’s oneStar Warsvillain from the non-canon Legends who would be perfect for Sigourney Weaver. Following various rumors and reports from insiders, Weaver has officially confirmed her involvement inThe Mandalorian & Grogu. However, it’s currently unknown who she’ll be playing in the upcomingStar Warsmovie.

Taking place afterThe Mandalorianseason 3, the adventures of Din Djarin and his adopted son are set to continue inThe Mandalorian & Grogu, a full theatrical film by director Jon Favreau. Set during the New Republic Era, the expectation is that Din and Grogu will be working alongside the Adelphi Rangers to search for and capture members of the Imperial Remnant. To that end, there’s one key Imperial leader from Legends that would be perfect for Sigourney Weaver to play and bring back toStar Wars’official canon withMandalorian & Grogu.

Sigourney Weaver Just Confirmed She’s In The Mandalorian & Grogu

But We Don’t Yet Know Who She’s Playing, Or Plot Details

At present, all that’s known is thatSigourney Weaver will be inThe Mandalorian & Grogu, and that she recently got to meet Grogu himself while working on the upcoming movie set to release in 2026 (and is currently in principal photography). That said, there isn’t much known about the movie and its actual plot, aside from somebrief exclusive footage fromThe Mandalorian & Grogureleased during this year’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event. In the brief teaser, Din Djarin and Grogu’s work with the Aldelphi Rangers was confirmed, as were new encounters with the Imperial Remnant.

To that end, it’s not yet known if Weaver is playing a hero or a villain in theStar Warsgalaxy, nor who else might be debuting in the galaxy far, far away for the first time. However, there’s certainly a vacancy for a leading antagonist, seeing as how Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon and his forces on Mandalore were defeated by the end ofThe Mandalorianseason 3. As such, perhaps Weaver will serve as the newStar Warsmovie’s leading villain.

Mandalorian & Grogu Needs A Dynamic Villain To Replace Moff Gideon

Another Imperial Leader Before Grand Admiral Thrawn

AlthoughMoff Gideon met his demise inThe Mandalorianseason 3, the series did reveal several other Imperial warlords operating in the darker corners of the galaxy ahead of the First Order’s official formation as seen in the sequel trilogy. These are the very same Imperials Din Djarin agreed to help the Rangers track down, putting his bounty-hunting skills to good use while raising Grogu as his son/apprentice. As such,it’s safe to assume that some other Imperial Remnant leader will step forward asThe Mandalorian& Grogu’spredominant foe.

While Grand Admiral Thrawn has returned to the known galaxy from his years in exile as seen inAhsoka, it stands to reason that his full endgame is likely being saved forAhsokaseason 2 andDave Filoni’s upcoming and untitled moviethat’s expected to serve as a major culminating event film during the New Republic Era, perhaps a canon adaptation ofHeir to the Empire. While that’s not to say that references or an appearance from Thrawn won’t happen (it probably will),Weaver could debut as the movie’s more current threat, while also bringing back the perfect Imperial Remnant leader from the non-canon Legends.

Ysanne Isard in Star Wars Legends

I Think Legends' Ysanne Isard Could Be Perfect For Sigourney Weaver

The Former Director of Imperial Intelligence Turned “Empress”

In Legends' New Republic Timeline,Ysanne Isard was the former director of Imperial Intelligence who claimed all kinds of power in the wake of the original trilogy. She’s best known for her primary role in Legends' Rogue Squadron andX-Wingbooks and comics. Like Thrawn appears to be in the official canon, Ysanne was a loyalist who believed in the Empire’s eventual restoration, unlike the many Imperial moffs and commanders who became warlords of various small sectors.

Isard became “Empress” in all but name, though her reign gradually diminished due to the New Republic’s growing victories, losing Coruscant, and Thrawn’s eventual return to the known galaxy and the start of his own galactic reclamation campaign. To that end, Isard could be a perfect role for Weaver, a dynamic villain serving as a prelude to Thrawn. While Coruscant is already controlled by the New Republic in the official canon during this period, losing the world could be part of Isard’s backstory, or she might try to take it back inThe Mandalorian&Grogu.
