Over the years,Disneyhas taken on a number of different popular fairy tales, yet there is one that I am still waiting for, decades after they first considered it. SinceSnow White and the Seven Dwarfsin 1937,Disney has been at the very top of animated children’s movies. Walt Disney Studios has released record-breaking films whose stories have now become ingrained in pop culture. Yet, despiteDisney’s overwhelming animated moviecatalog, there are still fairy tales that the company hasn’t tackled. For me, there is one major fairy tale that I am still waiting for Disney to produce.
Notably, many of Disney’s animated movies have taken inspiration from the classic fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm Brothers. 1989’sThe Little Mermaidis a much lighter version of the fairy tale ofThe Little Mermaidwritten by Andersenin 1837. The very first version ofSleeping Beautywas written in the 1300s, yet Disney revived the tale through gorgeous animation in 1959. While I love these movies and their takes on very old stories,I can’t help but be curious about how Disney would adapt one of the most popular fairy talesof all time.
