I have noticed something slightly concerning about Kevin Feige’s three favoriteMarvel Cinematic Universemoments. As an overall franchise, the MCU may be the most jam-packed with amazing individual moments, and theupcoming Marvel moviesof the next few years are only set to continue this. Although the franchise has faced its share of criticism since its inception in 2008, no one can deny that almost every single installment - be it thebest or worst-ranked MCU movie- has at least one moment that stands out for one reason or another.

Whether these moments extend to theMCU’s most rewatchable scenesor simply smaller moments between characters, the longevity of the franchise has led to several crowd-pleasing elements being packed into a 16-year stretch of cinematic greatness thus far. TheseMCU moments that never get oldare not only known for always being present in the minds of audiences and fans, however, but by Marvel Studios' creatives too. Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, has made his favorite individual MCU moments known, but an interesting caveat is raised in the process.

Kevin Feige’s Three Favorite MCU Scenes Are All Incredible Moments

Feige Has Some Good Picks

Firstly, it is worth exploring exactly which moments Feige pointed out as his favorite MCU scenes. Feige revealed these toCinePOPat D23 Brazil 2024, citing three incredible moments that would likely rank highly on anyone’s list. The first moment Feige outlined was Tony Stark’s"And I am Iron Man"line fromAvengers: Endgame.Naturally, I think this pick is fantastic and the moment is one of the most affecting in the MCU, not only for the way it bookended the Infinity Saga but because of how fantastic Tony Stark’s arc had been up to that point.

Robert Downey Jr. has contributed immensely to Iron Man’s lines throughout the MCU, from quick-witted jokes to entirely ad-libbed scenes.

The second moment Feige picked was Black Panther’s first reveal inCaptain America: Civil War. Knowing how big an impact theBlack Panthermovies, and the late Chadwick Boseman, had because of those films, this moment is certainly a poignant one. Even before Boseman’s tragic passing, the moment was suitably badass and introduced an epic new character to the MCU. I imaginethis scene hits even harder for Feige given how long the producer fought to have aBlack Panthermovie made.

The final moment Feige picked is one that is also one of my personal favorites: the portals scene fromAvengers: Endgame. The experience of seeing this scene in the theater after 11 years of buildup is unlike any other I have ever experienced as a fan, so I cannot imagine how amazing it would have felt for Feige to watch so many years of work pay off as it did. As a producer, the President of Marvel Studios, a filmmaker, and, most importantly, a fan of Marvel Comics characters, it is no surprise this moment is one of Feige’s favorites.

I’ve Just Noticed One Really Concerning Thing About All Of Feige’s Favorite Scenes

While all three of Feige’s picks are valid, and likely in thetop 10 MCU momentsof most fans, there is a somewhat worrying common denominator linking them: they are all from the Infinity Saga. None of Feige’s favorite MCU moments come from the Multiverse Saga despite several all-time franchise scenes coming in Phases 4 and 5. For example, the three Spider-Men uniting inSpider-Man: No Way Homewas amazing to see, as was Loki’s ascension to becoming the god of the multiversal Yggdrasil inLokiseason 2.

Loki season 2, episode 6’s ending turned the TVA into a multiversal tree. What does this mean and how does it connect to the titular God of Stories?

Regardless, Feige did not choose any of these moments as his favorites in the MCU. Of course, it is well within Feige’s right to pick whichever moments resonate with him the most, but it is certainly a damning reflection on the Multiverse Saga’s quality that none of these moments were raised. It has long been a criticism of post-EndgameMCU that the projects have not reached the same heights as the Infinity Saga, something which Feige’s comments seem to support.

Kevin Feige Marvel Comic book movies

Ironically, Feige had less control over the stories of the Infinity Saga than he does in the Multiverse Saga. It was only in 2019 that Feige was made Marvel Studios' Chief Creative Officer, giving him more control over creative decisions in the franchise. This is not to say Feige was not heavily involved beforeAvengers: Endgame, but it remains a fact his grip on the MCU is stronger in Phases 4 and 5. This makes it an ironic, somewhat troubling revelation that all of Feige’s favoriteMCUmoments have come in Phases 1-3, though it may well be the case he is saving the best of the Multiverse Saga for Phase 6.

Marvel Cinematic Universe
