Warning: This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again.
Marvel Studios has already set up the perfect storyline forDaredevil: Born Againseason 2, following a major death and huge character debuts in the newestMCUseries. A second season ofDaredevil: Born Againwas confirmed to be in development before season 1’s premiere, and the follow-up has already begun filming ahead of a 2026 release date. This means that audiences won’t have to wait long for Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio to come back as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, butDaredevil:Born Againseason 2’s storylineis set to be even more intense.
Much ofDaredevil: Born Againseason 1is tied to the former creative team and direction for the series that was in effect prior to 2023’s massive creative overhaul. This means thatshowrunner Dario Scardapane couldn’t unleash his creativity as much as he would have liked, but this will not be a problem inBorn Againseason 2, which Scardapane has built from the ground up. Marvel could takeBorn Againin a wild direction in season 2, especially since there have been teases to an adaptation of one ofMarvel Comics' most dramatic Daredevil storylines.

Shadowland Is A 2010 Marvel Comics Storyline That Changed Daredevil Forever
It was a huge shock whenDaredevil: Born Againopened with thedeath of Elden Henson’s Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Matt Murdock’s best friend and business partner. Foggy was killed by Bullseye - Wilson Bethel reprising the role of Benjamin Poindexter fromDaredevilseason 3 - and this could easily lead to the start of aShadowlandadaptation inBorn Againseason 2.2010’sShadowlandevent saw Matt Murdock return to New York as the Hand’s leader, planning to use them as a force for justice, but his new extreme methods lead to him murdering his long-time adversary, Bullseye.
It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to seeCharlie Cox’s Matt Murdocksnap if Bullseye is released or escapes from prison inDaredevil: Born Again. If Daredevil murders Bullseye in retaliation for Foggy Nelson’s death, the foundations would be perfectly laid for theShadowlandevent to be explored in the MCU. Murdock has already come close to killing Bullseye, and it doesn’t seem like it would take much to push him over the edge, which meansShadowlandwould be a brilliant storyline forBorn Againseason 2, bringing a darker and more unhinged Daredevil into the MCU.

Daredevil: Born Againis already one of the most intense, violent and dramatic projects Marvel Studios has ever produced, but new comments from lead stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio suggest season 2 will be even more impactful. Cox and D’Onofrio recently spoke toColliderto do a deeper dive into the emotional opening ofBorn Againseason 1, and tease what might be to come in season 2.Both Cox and D’Onofrio stress how"cool and so different and so sinister"Daredevil: Born Againseason 2 is, and aShadowlandadaptation would definitely fit this brief.
Charlie Cox:I’ve read six of eight, and honestly - and I don’t normally say this kind of thing; I always err on the side of caution - that’s some of my favorite stuff I’ve read ofDaredevil. We’ve got Dario Scardapane, who was brought in to pivot the show back at the beginning of 2024, who ended up writing the pilot and the last two episodes of this season that’s coming out. What he’s done so far with this new season is so cool and so different and so sinister, and I’m really, really excited about it.

Vincent D’Onofrio:I’ve read the same amount as Charlie, six, and I love where it’s going. It’s going to be quite something by the end of it, by the end of the next season. By the end of Season 2, there’s something quite amazing I feel is going to happen. We’ve both talked to Dario about the other half of it, but we’re not completely clear on it. We haven’t read the scripts yet, but they’re going to be delivered, and we’re going to read them. But I do have an idea of some of the details of what’s going to happen midway through and past, and it’s intense. It’s quite something. Like Charlie just said, I wouldn’t say that unless I felt it. It’s going to be a lot of work. We have a lot of work ahead of us.It’s going to be emotional and full of physical altercations. I don’t know what to say, but it’s going to be a crazy season.
Shadowlandis one of Marvel Comics’darkest and grittiest Daredevil storylines, as Matt Murdock comes back to New York City as a warrior of the Hand with fewer limitations and inhibitions than his usual vigilante career. Daredevil returns with extreme methods, culminating in him murdering Bullseye, and this also catches the attention of some of New York’s other street-level heroes, who Daredevil ends up fighting.Shadowlandis a very sinister and transformative storyline for Matt Murdock’s Daredevil, so this would be an incredible event to bring to live-actioninDaredevil:Born Againseason 2.

Marvel Just Debuted Another Important Shadowland Character
Hector Ayala’s Death Opens The Door For Shadowland’s White Tiger To Appear
The late Kamar de los Reyes debuted inDaredevil: Born AgainasHector Ayala, a.k.a. the first White Tiger. He tragically and shockingly lost his life to a gunshot at the end of episode 3, “The Hollow of His Hand,” which may have set up a new version of the White Tiger to debut, benefitting a possibleShadowlandadaptation. In Marvel Comics,Shadowland’sDaredevil is joined by Angela del Toro’s White Tiger, after she was resurrected as a Hand assassin similarly to Elektra Natchios. Angela del Toro, Hector Ayala’s niece, has now been teased in the MCU.
I Can’t Believe 2015’s MCU Hero Death Twist Works Just As Well 10 Years Later
Marvel just repeated a decade-old death twist in the MCU that’s still just as shocking in 2025’s Daredevil: Born Again as it was in the MCU’s Phase 2.
While Hector Ayala was the first White Tiger in Marvel Comics, the mantle has also been adopted by other members of his family. This includes his sister,Ava Ayala, and his niece, Angela del Toro, who Kamar de los Reyes' Hector Ayala revealed he and his wife, Soledad, had been living with inDaredevil: Born Again.Angela del Toro’s White Tiger is an important character in theShadowlandevent, as she allies with the dark Daredevil in his battle against New York’s heroes, so debuting her in the MCU could actively set up this storyline forBorn Againseason 2.

Adapting Shadowland In Born Again Season 2 Can Bring Back More Much-Wanter Defenders Saga Characters
More Defenders Saga Heroes Have Been Rumored For Born Again Season 2
Ever since Charlie Cox was confirmed to be returning as Matt Murdock’s Daredevil, the other members of Netflix’s Defenders team have also been speculated to be coming back. This speculation increased when theDefenders Saga was confirmed to be canon to the MCUin 2024, but Cox is still the only Defenders member who’s returned.AdaptingShadowlandforBorn Againseason 2 would be the perfect way to bring Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand back, and they could have a new dynamic if they return not to ally with Daredevil, but to fight him instead.

After killing Bullseye in Marvel Comics’Shadowland, the street-level heroes of New York City come together to try and stop Daredevil’s reign of terror. This not only includes Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty Knight and other Defenders Saga characters, but also the likes of Spider-Man, Moon Knight, the Thunderbolts, Wolverine and more, which could lead toDaredevil: Born Againseason 2 featuring many MCU cameos. This could also mark the much-theorizedreturn of Élodie Yung’s Elektra Natchios, who has a key role at the end of theShadowlandevent, which many would love to see in the MCU.
