WARNING: This article includes MAJOR spoilers from Daredevil: Born Again season 1, episode 7.One of theDaredevil: Born Againstars opens up about the shockingMarvel Cinematic Universecharacter’s death in this week’s episode. Following his introduction in the MCU,Daredevil: Born Againhas come full circle with Musesooner than expected. After Bastian went after Dr. Heather Glenn, it didn’t take long for Muse to clash with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen once again, only to face a shocking fate, but not at the hands of Daredevil.
In a new interview withScreenRantto promoteDaredevil: Born Againseason 1, Heather Glenn actress Margarita Levieva broke down the major fallout with Muse in episode 7, as her character ended up being the one to kill the villain. To begin with,Levieva shared what it was like filmings those scenes with Muse actor, Hunter Doohan, adding that she had a great time working with theWednesdaystar:

Margarita Levieva: Their relationship began during the book signing, when I meet the character eventually, who is playing Muse. And Hunter Doohan is such an extraordinary actor, and from the moment he walked up to me, there was just so much coming off of him, and so much energy and vulnerability. I really felt him deeply immediately, and he’s a really terrifying character, because he is so sympathetic in the beginning, and because he’s so vulnerable, and because he’s so earnest,I think that’s also why Heather really kind of falls for him, because she believes she can really help him and sees the goodness in him.
That’s why it’s so jarring and just unfathomable when whatever unfolds unfolds. He was just such an extraordinary actor. That therapy session was a very, very long scene on the page, and it was one of those where [it] both felt like it was a huge mountain to climb, but once we got into the dance, it was so fluid and felt so real. It was terrifying, but it felt very real, which was really helpful for the show.

With Heather being the one to kill Muse, theDaredevil: Born Againactress also spoke about the complexity that comes with being a therapist, in a profession of helping people, who has now taken a life, even though it was in self-defense.Levieva detailed what was going through Heather’s head when she killed Muse, and whether this is going to affect her perspective on vigilantes going forward:
Margarita Levieva: it’s extremely traumatic. It’s life-changing, I think, for someone who’s in the service of helping others to then take someone else’s life is just too much to even understand at first and the moment that she does shoot him, we talked about it a lot.Is it a conscious [decision]? Is it full-on revenge, hunger, kill? Is it sort of like a blackout kind of killbecause so much physical violence is inflicted upon her up until then.

There are a few moments where she actually hits her head.So we were wondering if there was a version of it where she’s almost unaware of what she’s doing, and it’s kind of like automatic. So I don’t know, I don’t want to really reveal what I decided for myself it was. It’ll be interesting to see how people interpret it, but the effects are evident right away, even in the hospital scene, when she wakes up from the concussion and realizes what she had done, it’s so unbearable for her to process, because taking someone’s life is not something that she ever thought, obviously, that she would ever do in her lifetime. [It] really rocks her.
On the topic of Heather, whose job is to help people with their mental health,Levieva was asked how she will be able to help herself after her trauma with Muse. When discussing how a therapist comes back from a big traumatic experience like what Heather went through, Levieva stated:

Margarita Levieva: That’s complicated, and that’s what’s so beautiful about the writing and the creators of the show, because obviously, we’re dealing with such big themes and this idea of vigilante and violence and what is done in the service of serving the greater good. How far can we actually take that sort of violence into our own hands? Where does it all end?
What Margarita Levieva’s Daredevil: Born Again Comments Mean
While death is not a new concept for eitherNetflix’sDaredevilTV showorDaredevil: Born Again, there are only a handful of characters considered to be good who have had to make the shocking decision to kill a villain. Heather, in many ways, is in a similar situation as Karen Page when she killed Wesley inDaredevilseason 1 in self-defense. In Heather’s case, she was misled and betrayed by Bastian, which forced her to make a last-minute decision.
From Levieva’s comments, this is definitely going to be something that affects Heather going forward inDaredevil: Born Againseason 1, and potentially even season 2. Being a therapist who had to take a life is something that could have severe effects on Heather, and based on Levieva’s statements, the ramifications from episode 7 will be felt sooner rather than later. It remains to be seen, however, whether Matt Murdock will have a reaction to his girlfriend killing Muse and, if so, what it will be considering his stance on taking a life.
