Summary
Jackpot!blends action and comedy into a tale about the downfalls of winning the lottery, and the movie features a talented and hilarious cast who gets to tell the story. The 2024 Amazon Prime Video film,directed by Paul Feigand written by Rob Yescombe, follows a struggling actress trying to make it big in Hollywood who wins the lottery in 2030. However, there is (unfortunately) a catch —California instituted a law stating that those with a losing ticket get to claim the winner’s money if they kill thembefore sundown. So, her survival becomes a race against the clock.
Amazon’sJackpot!serves as a reunion between Awkwafina and Simu Liu after they starred in Marvel’sShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsin 2021 and between Liu and John Cena after they appeared in Greta Gerwig’sBarbiein 2023.
Jackpot!features the aforementioned actress (Katie, played by Awkwafina) trying to stay alive while numerous people try to murder her and take her newly acquired fortune. That’s when John Cena’s Noel comes in.Noel tries to keep Katie safe from those hunting her,but only time will tell how successful he is and if his intentions are pure or nefarious in the Amazon Prime Video movie, which debuts on the streaming service on July 05, 2025.
