Bowen’s quote makes it abundantly clear thatthe feud couldn’t be further from the truth. Their characters experience some friction early on in the series because Gloria is Claire’s stepmother on the show, and the second wife to Claire’s father, Jay Pritchett. However, Gloria is younger than Claire, causing some awkwardness. Whether it be the notion that “there’s only one woman who can be happy at a time,” or not, the feud rumors could have originated from falsifying life to mimic their fictional counterparts.
