The stars ofLEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxyhave revealed which of the upcoming TV mini-series' characters they think could make the jump toStar Warscanon.Rebuild the Galaxyis part of the non-canon LEGOStar Warscontinuity, and as such isn’t part of establishedStar Warslore.Rebuild the Galaxy, however, is also a multiverse story, so it will feature different versions of established characters, with a bit of a twist. For example,Mark Hamill will return as Luke Skywalker inRebuild the Galaxy, and the LEGOStar Warsshow will also includeDarth Jar Jar.
In an exclusive interview withScreen Rant’s Joe Deckelmeier, the stars ofRebuild the Galaxy- Tony Revolori (Dev Greebling), Marsai Martin (Yesi Scala), and executive producer Dan Hernandez - spoke about which of the mini-series' characters could one day appear inStar Warscanon.

Tony Revolori: I could see Servo joining in. I think he’s got the best shot. He’s a droid; Michael Cusack does an incredible job voicing him, and he’s so hilarious. I could see that happening in honestly any show or movie easily.
Now, the one I want to see most, besides Dev himself, is I think Jedi Bob. I think it would be really funny to just get a Jedi who’s like, “Yeah, I’m good. I’m going to just sit down.” And using the Force to pick up food from the refrigerator and bring it himself. I think that would be really, really fun.

Marsai Martin: Yeah. Honestly, I think Servo would be such a cool addition. And the brothers Dev and Sig, I feel like they would be good. They make sense in new additions, and I’m talking aside for myself because I just feel like everyone should be a part of it. Because this is a completely different and new rebuilt version of the franchise as well. So, I really don’t know.
Dan Hernandez: That’s a great question. I think it’s Servo. I think Michael Cusack is one of the most talented people that we know. We worked with him on our show, Koala Man, and we’ve become close friends with him. When we set out to say, “Okay, what is our droid in this show?” We said, “You know what? It’s got to be an Australian Gonk droid. The choice is clear. There’s only one choice.”

And Michael is the most tremendous voice actor. Literally, they told us we had to stop sending alt takes of Michael at a certain point because there was too much. He just can’t stop once he gets going, which is a great benefit to us because we now have our choice of what to use. And I don’t know if you saw in the third episode where he kind of talks over the opening credits, but I still can’t believe that we got to do that.
To me, Servo is the one that I think could really jump over to the main line series and be an amazing part of the Star Wars legacy.
Revolori, Martin, and Hernandez all agreed that Servo (Michael Cusack), a gonk droid with an Australian accent, would be one of the most likely characters to appear inStar Warscanon. The stars also mentioned a few other characters fromRebuild the Galaxy, such as Dev and Sig Greebling and Jedi Bob (Bobby Moynihan), that could be included in futureStar Warsstories.
What Star Wars LEGO’s Characters Would Mean For Canon
While it seems unlikely, there is a possibility that some LEGOStar Warscharacters could be included in canon without making significant changes to the lore. Gonk droids can’t normally talk inStar Warscanon; their name comes from the guttural sound they make. That being said, modified droids aren’t unheard of.Droids like L3-37 fromSolo: A Star Wars Storyhave had significant changes made to their personality and technology. It’s feasible that a gonk droid like Servo could have been given the ability to talk, which would make it possible for him to make a canon appearance without disrupting the established lore.
Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows
What’s the best way to watch Star Wars? Here’s everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.
Likewise, other LEGOStar Warscharacters being included in canon wouldn’t necessarily have much impact onStar Warslore. If a character who originated from LEGOStar Warsdoes appear in canon, it doesn’t necessarily mean their entire story would be canonized along with them. Dev Greebling could appear as a regular nerf herder in a canonStar Warsshow, but that wouldn’t be evidence thatRebuild the Galaxyis canon. He could simply be a reference, much like howStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalkercanonized several Sith Lordswithout necessarily bringing their Legends stories into canon.
While it doesn’t have to, bringing a LEGOStar Warscharacter into canon could also massively change the established lore ofStar Wars.Rebuild the Galaxy, by nature of being a story about alternate universes, probably wouldn’t be made canon, but the concept of aStar Warsmultiverse could be. If there was a canon version of Dev Greebling, for example, then theRebuild the Galaxyversion could easily exist as well. A multiverse could even explain howStar WarsLegendsstories fit into canon, which would completely transform the entire franchise.
Do We Want To See Star Wars LEGO Characters Make The Jump To Canon?
The possibility of seeing LEGOStar Warscharacters in canon is exciting, but it may not be for the best. LEGOStar Warsstories are considered non-canon for a reason: they can be as experimental as they want without making significant changes. That’s precisely whyRebuild the Galaxywas able to include such outlandish and fun concepts, like Darth Jar Jar, in the first place. Those unusual stories and concepts are so valuable, partially because they could never happen inStar Warscanon. I think LEGOStar Warscharacters should stay non-canon so that they can continue to mess with the lore in exciting ways.
I think LEGO Star Wars characters should stay non-canon so that they can continue to mess with the lore in exciting ways.
Even aStar Warsmultiverse that would allow LEGOStar Warsstories to remain non-canon doesn’t seem like a good idea. Multiverses open up a lot of fun possibilities, like “what if” stories, but they’re also a very slippery slope. The MCU, for example, has leaned too far into the multiverse concept, and it’s starting to become a tired trope for many superhero fans. I would hate forStar Warsto make the same mistake by introducing a canon multiverse. Plus, the same fun ideas a multiverse makes possible can still be explored byLEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxyor a sequel.
