Some heroes opt for elaborate spandex costumes, or cohesive team uniforms, butLuke Cagedoesn’t need special gear to show off his super strength and titanium-tough skin. By slightly elevating his street-level gear as the leader of the Thunderbolts, he managed to create a look worth remembering, which has been brought to life in a killer cosplay that captures everything that makes Luke Cage a true icon.

Cosplay artist Michael “Knightmage” Wilson (@knightmage100)took Luke Cage’s most recognizable elements and rolled them into a fantastic cosplay. While Cage isn’t usually running around in Stars and Stripes, or with a giant recognizable brand on his back, he’s still easy to pick out of a crowd.

During his stint with the Thunderbolts, he added a set of bracers and a belt accented in yellow to top off the ensemble. Knightmage100 nailed the Thunderbolts look and tossed in a classic Power Man broken chain to pull it all together, proving that upgraded streetwear still makes a fantastic cosplay.

Best known forhis partnership with Iron Fist, and histenure as the Mayor of New York Cityin the Marvel Universe, Luke Cage began his superhero career under the code name “Power Man” and put together his original look with a wide-collared yellow shirt and metal headband. Cage has been around the hero scene in the Marvel Universe for years, and his first Power Man look didn’t last long before he opted for something closer to standard streetwear, which he kept throughhis time with the Defenders, Heroes for Hire, and more.

Luke Cage’s Iron Man Armor Is Still His Most Extreme Redesign of All Time

Luke Cage has gone through some pretty dramatic redesigns in his Marvel Comics career, but none of them compare to when he had his own Iron Man armor.

While some heroes depend on their suits to boost abilities, or even make them “super” in the first place, Luke Cage has all the power he needs stored in his own body. By keeping things simple, he can operate on a street level or go full-on, A-List superhero. He’s versatile, and his look reflects that. He occasionally opts for something more extreme, like his own Iron Man-style suit, butthe Thunderbolts costume captured perfectly by “Knightmage” Wilson combines the best of both worlds by adding in the accenting bracers and belt while he served as leader of the bad-guys-gone-good team.

@knightmage100’s Throwback Celebrates His Classic Attire

Theupcoming Thunderbolts filmmakes this the perfect time to remember Cage’s contributions to the team and the Marvel Universe. Luke has come a long way since escaping Seagate prison, and his idea of turning his powers into profit evolved from being a Hero for Hire to working with the Avengers, leading the Defenders and Thunderbolts, and carving out a place for himself in the superhero and political world. His look has changed with him over the years, but often still has nods to those original Power Man elements, andKnightmage100 captured everything that makes Luke Cage memorable and created a cosplay worthy of “Sweet Christmas!”
