Dragon Ball Daimahas spent the majority of its first ten episodes building all the intricate details of the Demon Realm, allowing Goku and friends the time to explore its wonders. Following the somewhat slow start, however, the series has finally begun putting the pieces in place to ramp up the action. Goku’s high-intensity bout with Tamigami #3 signaled the beginning of a shift toward fighting, and theintroduction of Majin Kuuall but set up a clear path toward the series' final antagonist.

Or so fans thought. Kuu, the product of amixture between a Saibaman seed and Majin Buu, was immediately given instructions to fight the First Demon World’s Tamigami and retrieve its Dragon Ball. Closing Episode #9 with a classicDragon Ballvillain smirk, Kuu opens Episode #10, “Ocean”, already challenging the guardian. Fans believed that Kuu would stand as a terrifying obstacle in the heroes' quest for the Demon Realm Dragon Balls, andthe latest episode seemed primed to prove that theory correct.

Dr. Arinsu telling Kuu that she is disappointed in him in Dragon Ball Daima.

While the all-new Majin stood within arms' reach of the magical object, Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of the crew lagged behind, exploring the Second Demon World instead. Losing out on a Dragon Ball before they even enter the First Demon World would have been detrimental to the heroes, and could have set up a thrilling wild goose chase for episodes to come. As the fight commenced, however, it quickly became apparent thatthe fanbase’s faith in Majin Kuu’s abilities might have been a little misguided.

Daima’s New Buu Isn’t Quite as Terrifying as the Old One

Majin Kuu Has a Poor Showing in His First Fight

Dragon Ball Daima’s placement in the series' overall timeline leaves Majin Buu as the most recent major villain to wreak havoc on the Earth. Given his rather obvious similarities to Buu,Majin Kuu had the opportunity to pose an even greater threat to Goku and company, now that they’ve all been stripped of power in their new smaller bodies. Though as the battle with Tamigami #1 kicked off, Kuu’s all-business demeanor faded, and an overly goofy side of the character made itself known.

Despite being able to hang with his opponent throughout the opening portions of the fight,Kuu quickly lost ground and eventually became totally unable to match the Tamigami’s movements. After one final ineffective attack, which already followed some unsightly fight choreography, Kuu threw in the towel and admitted defeat. The fight might not have gone as fans envisioned it would, but despite the latest Majin’s failure to secure a victory in battle, he may have won over some fans' hearts.

Kuu’s overly goofy nature, as well the reveal of his above-average singing abilitiesput a humorous twist on whom many believed might have beenDaima’s final, major villain. Unfortunately, he was not able to capture his creator’s affection, as Arinsu expressed her disappointment following Kuu’s defeat. It is not confirmed whether there is a strength discrepancy between the Tamigamis, but if they are all of a similar power level, Kuu will not pose much of a threat to Goku.

Majin Kuu Could Still Be a Threat Down the Line

Kuu Could Become Stronger If He Shares Buu’s Abilities

Though Majin Kuu does not seem to be an overly threatening presence following his fight in Episode #10,there is a chance that he may become stronger down the line. Having at least a pinch of Buu in him, the two Majin fighters could share a few deadly abilities, like absorption. It wasn’t until Buu absorbed Gotenks that he became overwhelmingly strong, and later frighteningly powerful after absorbing Gohan.

Kuu’s full arsenal of abilities has yet to be revealed, though if he can absorb other fighters, there are more than a few currently in the Demon Realm that could become dangerous. The depths of evil to which Arinsu is willing to goare also largely unknown, and given that Kuu is her creation, she may very well go back and make some modifications.

Dragon Ball’s New Majin Is Different From Majin Buu In a Big Way: Here’s How

Dragon Ball Daima episode #9 revealed a brand-new Majin named Majin Kuu, and he’s already different from Majin Buu in a very important way.

Dragon Ball Daimahas been whimsical in its clear decision to return the series to its comedic roots, and Majin Kuu seems to be the latest goofball to step onto the scene. Though he may not pose much of a threat now, there’s no telling how dangerous he might become in the future. For his own sake, however, it might be nice if Arinsu allowed him to pursue a singing career.
