I was wrong in thinkingMarried at First Sightseason 18’sDavid Trimble and Madison Myerscould redeem themselves from the cheating scandal, as they’ve only proved to damage their reputations further and the show in general. I did not see the cheating scandal between Madison and David coming. While I did notice they had built a friendly connection in the gym, I thought it more likely thatEmem Obotwould swap spouses with one of the other husbands were another couple to end the experiment early.
What actually happened, with David and Madison carrying on an illicit relationship behind their spouses backs and lying about it, shocked me. David was steadfast in upholding his lies to his wife,Michelle Tomblin, about the missent"You are so damn fine I just wanna eat U Up"text. Between that, and Madison not admitting the lie when directly confronted by Michelle, got me upset. However, I saw thatMAFSproduction was trying to build a redemption arc for David and Madison, which I thought could work, but I was incorrect after seeing the fallout and how they’ve represented themselves.

Madison & David Are Still Close With Their MAFS Season 18 Cast Mates
They Are Trying To Shield Themselves
When David and Madison came clean about the cheating scandal, only at the behest of a producer, Thomas McDonald and Juan Franco were supportive of David. While they urged caution and acknowledged the wrongdoing, I thought they gave him a pass. That pass was very obvious to me at the reunion, where Thomas and Juan sung David’s praises of how good a guy he was and that they were happy the experiment worked out for him, even if it wasn’t the intended way. I didn’t hear them ever chastise David for how badly he hurt Allen Slovick, Madison’s husband.
On Madison’s side, I did notice that Karla Juarez came for Madison when she explained the scandal to her, calling her"dirty"and"grimey.“However, I watched Camille Parsons toe the line, and during the reunion she noted Madison was the closest relationship she formed. At the reunion, Madison and David received criticism from Karla, Michelle, and Allen, but I thoughtthey were shielded by the other cast members who went to bat for their characters and relationship.

I believe the majority of the cast were supporting the wrong people, and it rubbed me the wrong way. I thought David and Madison would be big enough to confront the situation without needing the help of their cast mates who were on their side. Madison and David went into the reunion with a lot to prove, and their allowance of their cast mates to defend their characters was unsavory to me.
Madison & David Have Been Attempting To Woo MAFS Fans
Their Reunion Behavior Was Telling
David and Madisoncame to the reunion wearing coordinated outfits, inside jokes, and a united front. They explained that they were very much still together, that David moved into Madison’s apartment, and that David had bought a rental property. When confronted by their affair, David admitted his attraction to Madison was there from the beginning and that their strong connection was built in the following weeks. The pair upheld their stance that they never did anything physically before coming clean, and that their first kiss was after the wayward first get-together after decision day.
I believed David and Madison would showcase their relationship at the reunion and do an apology tour, but they weren’t as convincing as I thought they’d be.

Their ownership, apologies, and general confrontation of the scandal were disingenuous to me, as I noticed they kept reverting back to the notion of not caring what anyone thought even though they left a lot of hurt in their wake. What’s more, the fact that they were wearing promise rings irked me, as it came across as distasteful to me.
I’m certain David and Madison wente into the reunion thinking that their continued love and cast support would go a long way in saving their reputations, but it had the opposite effect for me. David and Madison showed me who they really were with their reunion behavior, which is two selfish people who have concerning moral compasses.I was wrong in thinking that they could woo me into rooting for them in any capacity.
Madison & David Demonstrated MAFS' Weak Points
The MAFS Matchmaking Is Subpar
I see that David and Madison essentially matched themselves inMarried at First Sightseason 18.They strung their spouses along, I feel to get more air time. I think they meant to unveil and pursue their relationship after saying no to their spouses on decision day, which is deviant to me. TheMAFSexperts should have recognized that Allen was never going to be Madison’s type, and that David was never going to be Michelle’s type. For me, this underscores how subpar and thoughtless the experts are when it comes to matching.
The experts also barely held David and Madison accountable, and left them off during the reunion with kind words hoping they would work out. David and Michelle’s cheating scandal is not something that I feel shouldn’t be rewarded, and they were because their storyline got a lot of screen time.
The pair’s illicit connection highlights the weak points ofMarried at First Sight’s format, casting, and ability to pair successful couples.
I know Michelle and Allen were robbed of their experience, and I don’t like that David and Madison are getting opportunities, albeit failed ones, to clear their names.

Madison & David’s Redemption Arc Isn’t Landing With Me
I Think They Dug Themselves Deeper
Based on what I saw from their season and reunion behavior, I’m certain David and Madison dug themselves deeper into their marred reputations and public perception. Moreover, they damagedMarried at First Sight’s credibility in the process. I feelthe pair are a prime example of what shouldn’t happen on the show, as the experts are supposed to make viable matches and detect any deception, both of which didn’t happen. David and Madison revealed the huge flaws within themselves and withinMarried at First Sightproduction and format, which I think is unforgivable.
