This announcement isn’t just exciting for Spider-Man fans, but also for the future ofMarvel Rivalscosmetics as a whole.

Marvel Rivals: Please Stop Using Competitive Matches For Missions And Achievements

You should treat competitive mode seriously in Marvel Rivals. Entering a match just for currency rewards wastes everyone’s time, including your own.

This isn’t the first time the Advanced Suit 2.0 has made its way into a property outsideMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. The suit also showed up inSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, since that movie was also produced by Sony, it wasn’t as big of a surprise to see it there. Seeing the suit come toMarvel Rivalsis more notable because NetEase isn’t owned by Sony, and the game is available on multiple platforms. Hopefully, more game studios will be willing to work withMarvel Rivalsto make similar crossovers happen.

Marvel Rivals Should Get Costumes From Other Marvel Games

Marvel Rivals Could Collaborate With A Wide Range Of Marvel Games

As exciting as it is to see the Advanced Suit 2.0 come toMarvel Rivals, it is maybe even more exciting to consider what else might show up in the game going forward. It’s very possible that other game studios could follow Sony’s example, andlend their unique Marvel designs toRivals’ heroes. Certain heroes inMarvel Rivalsare prime candidates for crossover skins, given their past, present, and upcoming history in video games.

One easy example of aMarvel Rivalshero who could get skins from another game is Luna Snow. Unlike most heroes inRivals,Luna Snow is not a Marvel Comics originalbut was instead created for the gameMarvel: Future Fight.Future Fighthas several unique looks for Luna, like her Light Sirius Armor or Summer Lilac look that mixes up her original color palette. Both skins are pretty big departures from her styles inMarvel Rivalsand would be nice additions for one of the game’s best strategist characters.

Scarlet Witch is another good candidate for a crossover costumegiven her unique appearance inMarvel’s Midnight Suns. Though her standard costume in the game isn’t far off from what appears inMarvel Rivals,Midnight Suns’ Fallen design for Scarlet Witch is a different story. The skin gives her more demonic features, glowing green hair, and eyes to match. It’s the kind of distinctly different look that would be perfect as an alternate skin inMarvel Rivals, because it’s not just a palette swap, the way most of her current skins basically are.

There are a lot of Marvel games with unique looks forRivals’ heroes, too many to list here. But the point is thatthere is a wealth of awesome and unique looks that the game could draw on for future content. Though some crossovers may be less likely -Midnight Sunsfor instance was a commercial flop and much less popular thanMarvel’s Spider-Man- the fact that they are at least possible is an exciting prospect. IfInsomniac’s upcomingWolverinegameever comes out, it would seem like an easy option given this first crossover.

Marvel Rivals Skins Can Be Fan Pleasing And Good For Promotion

Getting popular looks forMarvel Rivals’ heroes isgreat both for players and the game’s developers. From a player’s side, it means getting some fan-favorite looks that players likely thought never had a chance to make it into the game. Seeing asMarvel Rivals’ cosmetics cost quite a bit of in-game currency, it’s important that the available skins are ones that players can get excited about. By choosing looks that they know are popular, NetEase can keep players happy with the game’s cosmetic options.

Besides keeping their players happy,NetEase can also benefit from the added attention these crossovers can bring to the game. Sony made an announcement about the Advanced Suit 2.0 coming toMarvel Rivals. This means players who might not be followingMarveRivals’ social media accounts could still be hearing about the game through other channels. If other Marvel games followed suit, and more developers were posting about their crossovers withRivals, it would mean more eyes on the game.

Who knows, this crossover could be the first step towards even more skins inspired by other pieces of Marvel media. There are plenty of MCU looks that fans would likely enjoy seeing inMarvel Rivals, so hopefullyMarvel’s Spider-Manhas opened the door for more cross-promotional items in the future. Seeing as these types of promotions can bring attention to both properties involved, it seems likely that upcoming Marvel films might want to hop on the bandwagon to help combat the ever-growing issue of superhero fatigue.
