PhoenixandCyclopsis about as classic aMarvelcouple as it gets, and a new cosplay collaboration shows off just how amazing they are together. Scott and Jean are a couple with decades upon decades of messy history, but they’ve come out the other end stronger than ever, making this cosplay celebration all the more appropriate.
Nathan Weir (@nate.k.weir) has posted afantastic cosplay of himself as Cyclops alongside @itsrosemoon as Phoenix. Weir is wearing a pitch-perfect version ofJim Lee’s Cyclops designfrom the legend’s run onX-Men, while Moon is resplendent in Jean Grey’s most iconic costume, Dave Cockrum’s classic green and gold Phoenix look.

Thetwo looks didn’t exist at the same time in the comics, but they’re perfect for what this cosplay features: each character’s most iconic look. Weir also credits @shutter.owl for the photography and visual editing of the piece and promises more collaborations to come.
X-Men Debuts a Founding Member’s Crucial New Power (That Goes Beyond Mortal Limits)
As Jean Grey’s new solo series continues to define her Omega-level status, the extent of the Phoenix’s godlike powers is being explored in new depth.
This Cyclops and Jean Grey Cosplay Is Incredible
And Very Comics-Accurate
Scott and Jean might be a Marvel power couple, buttheir relationship has been anything but smooth over the years. After much teen angst, the two became a couple shortly beforeX-Men#60 by Roy Thomas, Neal Adams, Tom Palmer, and Sam Rosen, but Jean’s supposed deathin theDark Phoenix Sagaput their relationship on ice. When Jean returned, Scott had married Madelyne Pryor, shortly thereafter revealed to be Jean’s clone, but even this didn’t stop them from getting back together. After a spell on the first iteration of X-Factor, the two finally married shortly after rejoining the X-Men, but that was only the start of their drama.
Regardless of how Cyclops and Phoenix navigate their relationship, they’re still an incredible Marvel duo.

In Grant Morrison’s time oneNew X-Men,Scott cheated on Jean psychically with Emma Frost shortly before Jean died again. It then took over a decade for both he and Jean to be alive at the same time, at which point they restarted their relationship. By the time of the recent Krakoan era, the two were comfortable enough to open up their relationship to include Wolverine (as much asX-Men editorial now denies that fact).Scott and Jean are still together now, but on different sides of the galaxy, with Jean serving as a spacefaring hero while Scott leads a new X-Men team on Earth.
How Does Cyclops and Jean’s Relationship Work?
Especially After So Much Tumult?
The question is how solid their relationship actually is. One downside of the X-Men’s constant relaunches is that Scott and Jean’s reunion shortly before Krakoa felt very quick, with little time given to them hashing out their problems before the next status quo insisted that they were a happy couple. What did Jean actually think of Scott and Emma’s larger relationship, and how do Scott and Jean function so well now with so much messy history between them? Regardless of howCyclopsandPhoenixnavigate their relationship, they’re still an incredibleMarvelduo, as this collaborative cosplay shows.

Cyclops
Cyclops, a.k.a. Scott Summers, is the X-Men’s core team leader and one of the first characters to appear in the franchise. As a human/mutant hybrid, Cyclops has the power to launch massive bursts of energy from his eyes that are regulated through the use of a specially designed visor. Despite his calm and collected demeanor, he tends to lose it when in the presence of a fellow team member, Wolverine.
