Deadpool & Wolverinewas “blocked” from using a majorMarvel Cinematic Universecharacter according to Wade Wilson co-creator Rob Liefeld’s newest statements about the movie. While many actors became part oftheDeadpool & Wolverinecast, there were a couple of missing familiar faces that surprisingly didn’t make it into the Phase 5 installment. However, it turns out a major Deadpool franchise player had a specific reason for not being part of it.

Following Josh Brolin’s story-sharing of a piece of fan art of him as Darkseid for James Gunn’s DC Universe, fans began to speculate that the former MCU actor could be hinting at something with DC Studios. While it remains to be seen if there are any talks going on between him and DC Studios,Rob Liefeldtook to X to respond to Brolin’s post, saying Marvel Studios"shouldn’t have blocked him from Deadpool & Wolverine,“before calling it an"all time boner move.“Check out the full post below:

At the time of this story’s publication, neither Marvel Studios nor anyone involved withDeadpool & Wolverinehave commented on Liefeld’s statement. Brolin has also not reacted or responded to Liefeld’s comments about his version of Cable being blocked fromDeadpool & Wolverine.

What Rob Liefeld’s Deadpool & Wolverine Comments Mean

When it comes to Liefeld stating that they were “blocked” from putting Brolin’s Cable inDeadpool & Wolverine, it could mean a number of things. One scenario was that they were completely forbidden from using the character altogether. Another possibility is that Marvel Studios didn’t want to revisit Brolin inthe MCU timelinedue to the fact that for the audience who’ve followed Earth-616 since the beginning, he is known to them as Thanos and a Cable return would possibly have been confusing. This is despite the MCU’s first Captain America actor, Chris Evans, reprising his previous Marvel role as Johnny Storm.

It is also key to take into account that unless it had been a brief cameo, havingCable inDeadpool & Wolverineas a significant supporting player would have been tricky as the Phase 5 film was already packed with a lot of different characters. Even if they had been allowed to use Cable, it is hard to imagine where he would have fit into the overall story ofDeadpool & Wolverine. The premise, on the whole, was focused on Wade and Logan trying to save the Fox-Marvel universe while also paving the way for other Marvel cameos to happen, and Cable wasn’t necessarily someone who needed to be there.
