Conquest 2099#4 – written by Steve Orlando, with art by Ibraim Roberson and Jose Luis – the battle between Dracula’s vampire forces and the Araneon horde reaches a crescendo.Wolverine, as 2099’s Nova, Spider-Women, and others put themselves in the midst of conflict, Ghost-Spider offers to bring Dracula’s head to Spidercide. Her offer is rebuked, but the appearance is enough to show fans just how horrifying the new Ghost-Spider really is.

The cyberpunk-esque 2099 timeline has many spiders around, including Spider-Man, Spidercide, and Spider-Woman, so this new take on Ghost-Spider is perfectly at home among her fellow arachnids. Ghost-Spider easily outpaces them in terms of sheer nightmare fuel, however. While Gwen Stacy’s version of the webslinger is best known for her blue shoes, pink and white suit, and heroic deeds,2099’s Ghost-Spider is an arachnophobe’s worst thoughts personified.Spidercide’s terrigenetics program has transformed her into an instrument of war, meant only to act as his extra hand and bring bloodshed upon his command - a task she’s incredibly eager to tend to.
It is unclear what Ghost-Spider was like prior to the terrigenetics program, but, unlike 2099’s Spider-Woman, she shows no signs of breaking away from her warmongering Araneon people.

Although Ghost-Spider was originally a nickname for Gwen Stacy that morphed into a codename, it’s the perfect moniker for this new Araneon enforcer. With her pure white clothing, web-draped hat, and only four glowing eyes visible above a mask, she takes the name to a level Gwen would’ve never dreamed (or wanted). It is unclear what Ghost-Spider was like prior to the terrigenetics program, but, unlike 2099’s Spider-Woman, she shows no signs of breaking away from her warmongering Araneon people to follow in the original Ghost-Spider’s heroic footsteps. Her path diverges heavily from her namesake’s, but her design makes her memorable.
Ghost-Spider 2099 Is An Unpredictable Evolution For A Fan-Favorite Marvel Hero
A Disturbing Twist On Spider-Gwen
Theextent of Ghost-Spider’s powerhasn’t been revealed, save for the blades attached to two of her arms, wickedly sharp clawed feet, and fangs, but pairing those with even a fraction of Gwen’s agility, speed, and strength, will make her a terror on any battlefield. The Araneon people don’t simply seek wars - they win them. They’ve decimated every vampire population they’ve come into contact with, and she’s undoubtedly made significant contributions to that effort. 2099 turnedSpider-Gwen’sGhost-Spider into one of Spidercide’s most talented warriors, and she’s gearing up to make her nightmarish design and abilities everyone else’s problem.
