After a smash-hit run in theaters forMoana 2, the latest news finds the second film’s directors discussingMoana 3. David Derrick Jr. and Jason Hand spoke candidly in a recent interview withComic Book Movie, and the conversation quickly turned to the threequel. Though no official plans are in place yet,Derrick Jr. teased “there’s an untapped potential to the idea of her being a demigod, obviously. And we love that as an idea.“With an idea that intrigues the filmmakers,Moana 3grows more likely by the minute.
Jason Hand added to that idea by extolling the fan reaction to the sequel, saying “it’s so exciting that there’s a desire to find out more about what’s going on.” What this roughly translates to isthere is a clear audience forMoana 3, and another chance for Disney to deliver massive blockbuster.

Disney Hasn’t Announced Plans To Make The Threequel
Despite the first sequel becoming yet another major financial win for Disney, the company hasn’t made any announcements regardingMoana 3. However, the opportunity to cash in on the lucrative franchise is never out of the question with Disney green-lighting a ton of sequels to films likeToy Story,Frozen, andZootopia(to name only a few). This means the likelihood ofMoana 3is still quite high, though it may be another long wait before Moana and her next adventure arrives.
The franchise itself is rapidly expanding with the production of the live-action remake ofMoana, and though that will be separate from the animated films, it nevertheless builds interest in more.
