Mortal Kombat 1is building to the release of Ghostface, andNetherRealm Studios is teasing the killer’s arrival by showing them go head-to-head with an iconic comic book character. TheMortal Kombatcommunity is growing more and more excited to get their hands on Ghostface as theScreamvillain has already made waves thanks to the thematically appropriate moveset. It may initially be odd to see the serial murderer go up against the likes of Sub-Zero and Raiden, but Ghostface’s savagery and commitment to the kill more than justify their place in the roster.

Screen Rantcan officially revealan exclusive character intro that pits Ghostface - x2 - againstInvincible’s Omni-Manas the fighters trade verbal jabs before beginning their brawl. Check out the clip below!

Ghostface Looks Like A Great Mortal Kombat Guest

Continuing A Lineage Of Horror Villains

Ghostface is the latest horror movie icon to serve as a guest fighter inMortal Kombat, following a tradition that includesFreddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and even the Xenomorph. Based on the trailers, NetherRealm has done an excellent job of capturing the essence of theScreammovies in the killer’s kit. Many of the killer’s combos involve calling in the assistance of a doubleto either continue a string of attacks or set up the next major juggle. The theme of multiple Ghostface killers is a recurring aspect of theScreamfilms.

The 10 Best Mortal Kombat 1 Animalities, Ranked

Animalities have returned to Mortal Kombat, and they’re just as wild and over the top as ever. While they’re all great, only some are truly the best.

Even Ghostface’s Fatalitiesreflect the fun meta-narrative ofScream. The most elaborate sees the game zoom out of the TV screen to show Johnny Cage playingMortal Kombat 1while growing increasingly frustrated thathe can’t defeat “a dude with a knife.“The Fatality ends with the “real” Ghostface murdering Johnny Cage, a fun nod to the constant fourth-wall breaks the film series is known for.

Our Take: I Can’t Wait To Play As Ghostface In Mortal Kombat

They Look Like A… Scream

Beyond the fact that I’m a massiveScreamfan, I thinkGhostface will be a great additiontoMortal Kombat 1. While they may just be “a dude with a knife,” the terror Ghostface has managed to inflict on so many generations is enough to justify their spot in the game.

I also appreciate how much care and attention has been placed into the character:I doubt I’ll ever grow sick of hearing the horror movie “sting” sound effectwhenever they pull offa particularly brutal combo. Thankfully, there’s not too long to wait before Ghostface joinsMortal Kombat 1.
