Summary
With the movie’s main villain already set with an Oscar nominee,Nobody 2has seemingly found another villain in Emmy nominee Colin Hanks. Development on a sequel to the Bob Odenkirk-led action hit has properly been gaining steam over the past year when a script was completed and Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen and Christopher Lloyd were all confirmed to be returning to the fold. After initially expecting Ilya Naishuller to return to the director’s chair,Nobody 2went in favorof bringing onMay the Devil Take You’s Timo Tjahjanto to direct.
The Hollywood Reporterhas brought word that Colin Hanks has joined the cast ofNobody 2. Though plot details remain under wraps for the Bob Odenkirk-led sequel, sources report that Hanks is set to play “a corrupt sheriff with none too nice ambitions”, seemingly establishing him as a secondary villain to Sharon Stone’s antagonist. While no filming start has been announced as of now, the sequel is slated for an August 11, 2025 release date.

Hanks' Corrupt Sheriff Can Bring A Fresh Twist To Nobody 2’s Story
While Hanks' casting marks another promising addition to the sequel’s roster of award-nominated actors, it also serves as anopportunity forNobody 2to deliver some fresh twists on the original movie’s story. The 2021 action thriller proved to be a largely straightforward one-man-army story with a dark sense of humor underlying the proceedings that helped it stand apart from many of its genre counterparts. Many comparisons were also made between the firstNobodyand the firstJohn Wickmovie, particularly since producer David Leitch and writer Derek Kolstad were also the co-director and writer of the latter.
The idea of law enforcement inthe world ofJohn Wickhas also proven one of the more interesting elements throughout the Keanu Reeves-led franchise, with officers either being connected to the assassin underworld or completely absent from the proceedings. WithNobody 2having Hanks starring as a corrupt sheriff, it will be interesting to see how Kolstad looks to break from the formula of his prior franchise. While it could be seen that Hanks' deputies serve as an additional army to fight Odenkirk’s Hutch, the sequel could also establish there being some well-meaning deputies that team up with him.

5 Things Bob Odenkirk’s Nobody Does Better Than The John Wick Movies
Nobody and John Wick are both thrilling, emotional, well-shot, and well-acted action films. There’s some things, however, that Nobody does better.
Whether the law enforcement’s presence proves to be a hindrance or benefit to Hutch,Nobody 2casting Hanks as a corrupt sheriff marks a promising sign of the sequel further establishing a separate identity for the action franchise. TheJohn Wickseries itself is already looking to build its own new path with theAna de Armas-led spinoffBallerinaand another TV spinoff from franchise director Chad Stahelski, but with those being firmly set in the world of Reeves' movies, Odenkirk’s sequel offering different stories and characters from the other could lay the groundwork even further for futureNobodymovies.
