The latestNosferaturemake has earned nothing but praise from an acclaimed horror director. Retelling the story of the 1922 movie, the Robert Eggers movie stars Bill Skarsgård (Count Orlok), Nicholas Hoult (Thomas Hutter), Lily-Rose Depp (Ellen Hutter), and more well-regarded actors. It will not be the first remake, as 1979’sNosferatu the Vampyreearned acclaim for its portrayal of the horrifying villain. Yet,the upcomingNosferatumovieappears to be even more highly regarded ahead of its December 25 release.

The movie has been so positively received thatAlien: RomulusdirectorFede Álvarezconsiders it better than his own recent release, taking to Twitter to proclaim thatEggers' remake is his “favorite horror movie of the year”.Check out his post below:

What Fede Álvarez’s Endorsement Means For Nosferatu

Having theAlien: Romulusdirector offering such high praise is an extraordinary sign. After all,the latestAlienmovie earned positive reviewsof its own, having earned an 80% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 85% audience-led Popcornmeter score. If Alvarez believes that his movie is nothing compared to Eggers' remake, thenNosferatucould very well be a hit. The praise is an extraordinary sign and could draw more attention ahead of its Christmas release date.

Alvarez is not the only one offering it immense praise.TheNosferatureviews so farhave been entirely unanimous in their praise for the remake, with everything from the costuming to the characters and the gritty and horrifying nature of the cinematography earning critical acclaim. There is no Rotten Tomatoes score at the time of writing, as it is still too early, as no written reviews have been published, for which the site calculates its score, but rather rave social reactions.

Our Take On Fede Álvarez’s Nosferatu Praise

Alvarez’s movie already earned extreme praise, so it is odd to see the director referring toEggers' movie as being betterthan his own. It could be his humility, as the director may not necessarily want to call his own movie the best of the year. Still, few would have commented on a slightly more reserved response, which means that it is probably his honest opinion. If so,Nosferatushould explode at the box office. The holiday season already offered an opportunity to thrive, but this universally positive response should draw a larger audience.
