While gaining a forever youthful body is not a new idea for the series, after meeting the Five Elders,Dr.Vegapunk found another method of staying alive foreverby sharing his consciousness across multiple bodies. However, he’s not the only one who discovered a way to prolong their life significantly.
Egghead proved to be amongOne Piece’s best arcsthanks in part to its introduction to Dr.Vegapunk, all seven versions of him. Fans were introduced to all of them, and each served a specific function: to maximize the world’s most intelligent man’s productivity. Unfortunately, they all died except for the traitor York, the greedy aspect of Dr.Vegapunk, and Lilith, who seemingly represents evil. Even though the doctor’s main body has perished, his consciousness can live on through his satellites.
More information is needed to determine if the entirety of Dr.Vegapunk’s consciousness has transferred to Lilith and what she plans to do after escaping Egghead with the Straw Hats. However, as they left the island in chapter #1123,Imu also showed signs that they might also be connected to the Five Eldersin the same way Dr.Vegapunk was connected to his satellites.
While it’s unclear how long the Five Elders have held their positions as the highest-ranking Celestial Dragons, Imu has been rulingOne Piece’s World Government for at least 800 years.

The World Governemt’s Five Elders finally stepped out of the shadows inOne Piece’s latest arc and used some sort of dark magic to teleport to Egghead Island. While thefive monsters took the form of mythical beastsfrom Japanese folklore, they were forced to revert to their human bodies and teleported back to the World Government’s headquarters on Mary Geoise. The oneincredible Haki blast that defeated them all also saw Imu shaken for the first timein the franchise, which could hint at the mysterious leader’s connection to the Five Elders.
Years ago inOne Piece’s past, before Dr.Vegapunk split himself into his satellites, he was invited to Mary Geoise, where he became one of the few people to meet the Five Elders. They sought to take advantage of the most brilliant brain in the world to help develop weapons, but the full extent of the knowledge they shared is unknown. However, it would be a fascinating twist if Dr.Vegapunk came up with his idea of splitting his consciousness after meeting the Five Elders, who serve Imu with the utmost loyalty, possibly because they are part of Imu.

After learning of Imu’s existence from Sabo, Empiror Ivankov recalled hearing of one of the twenty kingdoms that helped establish the World Government 800 years in the past, the Nerona Family, led by someone named Saint Imu. The kingdoms banded together todefeat the legendary Joy Boyand the hyper-advanced civilization he came from and judging by Imu’s reaction after feeling Joy Boy’s Haki attack; it’s clear the two have a history author Eiichiro Oda is likely saving to reveal for later.
The ultimate ability of Trafalgar Law’s Operation Devil Fruit sacrifices the user’s life to grant someone else eternal youth. It may have been used on Imu in the past, explaining another way they could have survived for so long. However, even if the long-time ruler of the evil World Government has an eternally young body, sharing their mind with the Five Elders has several benefits that Dr.Vegapunk has brilliantly showcased at the beginning ofOne Piece’s final saga, which will undoubtedly reveal more about the mysterious antagonist before the story’s ultimate conclusion.
